We might have something here with Cortes... he's getting a lot of hitters out. Love the way he's able to change arm angles and change the eye-levels of the hitters.
He certainly doesn't have overpowering stuff, but he gets guys out and throws strikes. He's pretty crafty and has been perfect in this role so far.
As for the whole opener strategy, I think we should get used to it. Even at full health, its almost a no-brainer for next year as a way to utilize Happ as part of the regular rotation and not have his 3rd year vest.
1st inning, he tried to go to 3rd on a ground out by Voit and Richard tripped and fell on Stanton stepping on his left hand. Looked like he got spiked on the wrist and fingers.
Precautionary I hope, Ice it....
Hopefully that was more precautionary than anything else and will just be a day to day thing if anything. G didn't seem like he was in that much pain, but I know that's not a good way to really judge or speculate on an injury.
Sucks that Maybin is on the shelf now too. But, we'll be alright.
laughing. Voit tags and takes second on a fly to center. Then tries to score on a solid single ripped to left...Even Gardy and Hicks may have had trouble scoring there.
Lol, yeah - I wasn't even mad at that. I just laughed. I mean, he had less than zero chance on any throw that was even close to the plate. The ball was there before he got much further than halfway and he knew he was dead to rights.

Exactly. When Ruocco wondered if they'd send him, I almost thought he was kidding.

My voice issues finally caught up with me today after the long game last night and taping two CenterSrages today. I had to leave @TMKSESPN after 45 minutes and @RyanRuocco will be doing PBP with @PaulONeillYES for tonights game on @YESNetwork . I hope to be back soon.
I'm losing my breath watching Cortes and Richard pitch. Get the ball, get the sign, throw the ball. Refreshing.

It was, but the flood of tears from BBI washed the post away.

Was away from the TV. What happened?
Incredible.

Nevin had the stop sign up initially - I guess when he saw Voit going full-bore he changed his mind.
Whoops.
Nestor just keeps getting outs....

I much prefer RR over MK. Far more energy
3-1
3-1
Old days and Sanchez would have blocked the plate and he would have been out - just sayin...
Now lets please turn on the juice. Not a little - a lot.
It's the "when he's not" part I worry about. But he's been great so far tonight.
LFG!
