Hearing AAV could be $13M. Dont know if its the exact number but the biddings are high.

If it does happen, I just hope like hell Panarin is one of those guys who ages gracefully into his 30s.

Should be an exciting team to watch next year. Tons of talent at forward.
Quite possible that Dolan/MSG

Supposedly he left some money on the table to sign with NYR over NYI.

Oh, nice! That will salve the burn left by the Durant fiasco at least a little bit.

Quite an influx of talent for the NYR this offseason!

Not just making the playoffs.

baby steps.

IMO playoff experience is valuable to a young team. If you can get guys like Chytil, Andersson, Kravstov, Kakko, etc. some good playoff experience in a gravy year (like the Avs did) I think it will pay off down the road - even if it's just preparation for a road game and avoiding a slow start/momentum from the home team.

I agree though, no they are not cup contenders this year.

In a season though where an 8 seed made the conference finals, just getting in is valuable.

I think Rangers fans are overrating their group. They still need another elite talent AND the top guys to pan out to think they can really contend.

The Leafs hit on every guy for a few years, hit a home run with Matthews, and are already in a cap crunch. And they still haven't won a Cup.
At lot of that hinges on just how good Kakko and Kravtsov are
Greg from LI : 7/1/2019 11:55 am : link
Right now, we don't know that. We only know that they're extremely talented.

Glad I'm not the one paying him but Panarin checks all the boxes as a UFA. Like other elite players, he's probably great for 2 more years, good for 2 years after that, then who knows for the last 3 years of the deal.

12M is McDavid-esque. 10.5 is the same amount that the Blackhawks are paying Patrick Kane.

Some good Panarin perspective:

Points - 7th
Primary Points - 8th
5v5 Points - 5th

How quickly they reach it will be big for next year. How long before the highly touted Goalie starts playing?

Well I think we all accept Kakko is going to be the greatest player of all time as given fact.

I think they need to hit on a few of the D (Fox, Miller, etc.). They shockingly seem to have sufficient top six talent if Kakko/Kravtsov pan out.

It's certianly expensive

Wonder how they clear some space now and if that means shipping Kreider out or getting creative to unload one or two of the defensemen
....
BrettNYG10 : 7/1/2019 12:06 pm : link
People say Lemieux or Orr could have been the GOAT if they stayed healthy.

Kakko ends that conversation.
.
arcarsenal : 7/1/2019 12:07 pm : link
Expensive and I was kind of leery at this cost - but I really like the player and I'm not worried about the term.

Gorts has done a pretty damn good job getting young talent back in here. I think the Rangers are going to be really fun to watch this year. Won't be contenders yet - but so much young talent.

I feel like Kravtsov is almost being forgotten with all of the stuff swirling around Kakko, etc... but I actually think Vitali is going to be really, really fucking good. I'm pumped for him. He was really impressive @ Juniors and he was playing hurt.
Like I said
pjcas18 : 7/1/2019 12:10 pm : link
if you were willing to pay 10 or 10.5

why not pay 12.

I don't understand the line in the sand.

Good get for the Rangers.
.
arcarsenal : 7/1/2019 12:12 pm : link
Dreger saying under 12M... guess we'll see.

There's no real line for me, I just thought 12+ was pretty costly.

If it's a hair under that, I'm comfortable with it. Even if it's 12, I'll live. I'll grit my teeth a tiny bit... but I'll live.
If they've landed him they have two pretty damn good lines.

Especially since they just spent a 1st Round pick on Spencer Knight. They would have been better off trying to get Lehner at a discounted price if the Islanders are going for Varlamov.

Again, it's the term not the compensation. Also the ntc.

Lee for 5 years is much different than 7 or 8.
Have to be able to move these contracts in the second half of the deal. No Andrew Ladd ntcs please

I feel a bit bad for CBJ. Made a lot of brilliant moves in recent years and it all sort of fell apart. They won't be awful, but I can't see them competing for a Cup.
