I do find it good sport to see what ads pop up when I visit the BBI......

ads are based off what you have viewed/possibly even talked about aloud. It is not limited to only the computer/phone/tablet you are using. Anywhere you may be logged into the same google account, yahoo email, internet connection, etc. are all connected.

Therefore, whoever is getting ads for political stuff someone is looking at political stuff. If you're getting ads for "asian singles" sorry, someone is lookin' at porn.

Eric only has so much control over what ads are seen. If it's the same type I'm assuming it is, he can block some generalized stuff with the third party tracker he uses. Otherwise it's just based on recommended attributes from the data these ad companies have on you.

If you are sick of the ads you're getting, clear your cache/cookies and it should reset.

do not specifically call you names, or start flame wars, or get posters banned.

As wonderful as BBI posters are, some of them cannot control their tempers when faced with political or religious opinions that differ from their own. So, ads: OK. Threads: verboten.

A few years back someone started a thread asking why Eric was placing adds for Asian Massage Parlors on BBI. Then in was pointed out to the posted that the adds were directly related to your browsing history. Best burn ever..

So yes, it is not all targeted marketing (The stuff that follows you everywhere), but it has a ton do with what you view.

Highly doubtful that would be tied to my search history. Medication ads as well. I haven't searched for anything even remotely medical in quite some time.

I have seen many ads on BBI that appear simply because they are related to a thread title or topic in a thread.

It's probably a combination of many factors that governs what ads appear.
