Chunky or smooth?

For me it's chunky Skippy.

Kroger store brand. You guys are paying for advertising.
look at the ingredients - they're absolute garbage

I grew up on Skippy but I won't touch the stuff anymore. Get Smuckers natural - the ingredients are "peanuts and <1% salt." And it's AMAZING.

Tip - when you buy the jar, it has oil at the top. Take the jar home, flip it over, let the oil get to the new top (bottom of the jar), flip it back over, open it up, and mix it with a knife.

Best peanut butter ever.

I love peanut butter - one of the few foods that is both sweet and savory...
Peter Pan.

Kirkland brand but of the three more known brands I go with the 3rd most popular (i assume).

Extra Crunchy

HoodieGelo : 7/2/2019 1:46 pm : link
delicious, but probably the worst ones for you. Can't go wrong with Smucker's Natural Crunchy. However I will say, Peter Pan's Whipped Creamy is a close #2 and is great nutrition-wise.
Jif
DG_89 : 7/2/2019 1:53 pm : link
smooth all day everyday. However back in the early 90s Skippy (or was it Peter Pan?) had a honey roasted that was absolutely delicious

Skippy Natural Creamy PB is my go-to.

I'm sure if I looked at the ingredients, it's not entirely natural and there are additives and extra stuff - I just don't love the totally bare bones stuff that's literally just peanuts, salt and oil.

That's what my wife buys, and the kids like. We tried couple of times to go more "natural" and it never worked.
Both suck
UConn4523 : 7/2/2019 8:56 pm : link
can’t go back to fake peanutbutter. Can only eat all natural crunch. Trader Joe’s has a great one with Valencia peanuts. Teddy’s Crunchy also good.
Wife tried the natural.

It sat for months after the 1st try. She finished it. We ate whatever - Jif, Peter Pan.
Just looked. We have Jif and Peter Pan.

I prefer Skippy chunky.

So good. Once you have that and go back to JIF its like eating pure sugar. Gross

They used to have their store ground peanut butter on sale all the time. Hasn't been in years. That was awesome and cheap.

I don't know why - not sure if it's because the oils change or the quality of the peanuts used in store bought - but once I made my own I couldn't take the taste of the off the shelf PB anymore.

I don't eat much of it these days though, when I do use PB for anything it's usually as a topping and it's the defatted PB powder.

I like Smuckers Natural, too (at least the salted kind), but the natural folks always seem to exaggerate the difference. I mean, the only extra ingredients are usually a little sugar and even less hydrogenated oil or palm oil. But sugar! Saturated fat! (Not trans fat since they don't use partially hydrogenated oil any more)

So the sugar bumps from 1g to 3g per serving. The saturated fat jumps from 2g to 3g. Not exactly the picture you get listening to people say that they're garbage compared to the "real thing."

Skippy natural creamy has 2 whole grams of added sugar. Otherwise, it's literally just peanuts, salt, and oil.

Don't get me wrong - those 2g make it noticeably sweeter and the little bit of palm oil mixed in changes the consistency vs plain ground peanuts, but the nutrition label isn't very different.
