Ramos. Not good at catching the ball

That's not important to play catcher is it?

Mets 'streaking'
Arguably Ramos's most athletic

He was out. Should have been called out just based on the sheer stupidity of even trying to take the base to begin with but oh well.

Lucky to get that call. Probably won't matter.

But how the fuck was that pitch called a strike?

Umpiring just keeps getting worse and worse.

Lol its one thing to root for your new team 158 games a year plus playoffs. But Id think with an 11 game lead tonight youd be neutral.

Anyway...

Bats just didn't have it today. Hopefully another night in NY at home and everyone will be sharper tomorrow.

Good game. Well.. not aesthetically... but, sportsmanship. Ya know.

See you tomorrow.
Oh well.

Back down to 25 games over .500 for the Yankees. (obviously)

Neutral? What the fuck does that mean?

Root for and against every play at the same time?

No thanks. I'll worry about my own rooting interests, you worry about yours - not like you have much choice with that embarrassing handle.

Yep, regardless of Didi having a major brain fart, that call changed the whole AB.

after his PH. (EE should've been taken out.) Gio makes that play DJ flubbed easily.

I'll never trust Britton, I don't give a shit what his numbers are.

That seems a little defensive.

I haven't kept up with the basketball threads, curious if anyone flipped to the Nets already. But that may be more of an in-season move.
Nah you only flip to the Nets
moespree : 7/2/2019 10:39 pm : link
After the Knicks start the season off hot and then collapse midseason. Then after you're initial excitement about the Knicks wears off, only then do you make the switch to the Nets. And it's alright to do so because you're just a fan of basketball man.
God damnit I fucked up the ball busting with improper grammar

This whole thing is very tough to take though. He has the right to do whatever he wants, but now calling out a Met fan for his Mets handle? Brutal. Arc had Matt Harvey as his profile photo for years, a HUGE Met fan. Its just perplexing.

As Mook said re: VinR when he switched from the Pistons to Nets. You can do it, but its just lousy.

Anyone else want to pile on me here?

I won't even post in the thread tomorrow, it's not fair to the other people who just want to talk about the game. I was going to even just avoid this one for the same reason.

These threads don't need to be about me. You guys just really need to get over it.

I'm happy with my choice. If I didn't want to support the Mets anymore, I don't have to. If you do - continue to do so.

Everyone is free to do as they please.

Ignore me if you don't like it. I don't give a shit if you think I'm a "good poster" or a good guy or anything else. Just ignore me. No skin off my back.

But the whole jumping ship on the Mets for the Yanks, IMO, is weak. So if Darnold leads the Jets to multiple titles & Jones sucks, does he do the same?

I'm a dude who, once you're a fan, you're married to 'em. Yes, that's a conservative 1950s mentality that I actually am down with.

and moreso when he saw the light and embraced the empire. Nuff said.

Another game blown by letting a AAAA player beat us (Davis).

Stupid streak over and we can focus on playing a quality game tomorrow.
Looking forward to facing German tomorrow
ZGiants98 : 7/3/2019 12:13 am : link
Mets lineup just works better turned around. Dom and his 1.000 OPS bat should be in LF over Davis and I expect big games from McNeil, Conforto, and even Cano (dont look now but he has 4 multi hit games in a row) tomorrow.

That said I doubt Vargas is pitching another gem against this lineup. Should be another good game. I'd expect plenty of runs tomorrow from both teams.
The piling on Davis really needs to stop
ZGiants98 : 7/3/2019 12:16 am : link
Davis had a huge game during the last series too and Yank fans were going nuts about it. How about he's just a good player?

wRC+ of 118 on pace for about 20 HR playing part time. Not shabby at all. He also raked in the minors last year.

Guy isnt an all star but he's a real solid piece.

and he's smart enough to know that he's going to take his lumps from Mets fans. Best thing he said is he should probably stay off these threads for these matchups.

I know I'd have a hard time with a long-time, die-hard Yankees fan coming on a Yankees thread after switching to another team and commenting on a Yanks handle.

He's a good guy, probably won't be on the next NYY/NYM thread.
Why should he stay off?

Arc can post on any thread he wants.

people who give him shit say more about them than it does about Arc.

While I can't really understand the team switch, I don't really care about it and it's no one's business what fucking baseball team the guy cheers for.

I say this often, but it bears repeating, the team you root for in a sport doesn't change you as a person. If the team you root for is the winningest franchise in any sport on Earth you can still be a massive loser asshole and the team you cheer for doesn't change a thing and conversely if the team you root for is a laughingstock you may very well still be a solid person and a winner at life which is far more relevant and important.

I probably won't read or post on the thread, but in no way should Arc avoid it or change anything he does (IMO).

I guess LeMahieu is human after all, he had a tough night
at the plate, and the big throwing error in the 8th.
I can't complain with him, just stating facts.
Also, why was Hicks playing all the way into right center,
the ball that eluded him was hit to straightaway centerfield. Please spare me the 'spray charts. it's a
one run game, that ball has to be caught. Those were the
two keys plays of the game. Some lethargic looking swings,
by the Yanks, possible jet lag? I though both starting pitchers threw the ball well. Paxton had to grind a bit more, with only one clean inning.
Get 'em tonight, glad German will be back.
They need him around here.

I think after the 2-0 pitch that was clearly outside and the ump called it a strike, he took the approach that is going to be a strike.

Just to be clear, I was the one who suggested I not post on the thread for the second game - I just don't want to derail actual baseball discussion. I won't even be home for it regardless. But, I don't want these threads to be like this and I don't want to be a distraction.

Anyway; look... I'm just tired of explaining myself to people.

I didn't do this on a whim as much as it seemed. I thought about it for a really long time and I was nervous about going through with it because: A) I knew once I did it, there was no going back, and B) I really wasn't sure if I'd feel the same enjoyment or enjoy any type of victory the same way.

I don't want to dramatize it, but it was a big decision for me. I knew I was going to take heaps and heaps of shit for it (everyone here can plainly see that's been the case...)

MAB has been sniping at me since last year - I threw one back at him. He's a big boy, he can handle it. We'll hug and make up when hockey season starts. But the idea that it's just "all in good fun" when everyone's piling on me, but suddenly "brutal" when I finally say something back - well, that's not really fair.

I've not been an asshole about any of this - anything I've said about the Mets since has just been an honest opinion. I don't post stuff like "LOLMETS!" when things aren't going well, nor do I take enjoyment from any of it.

So, think of me what you will - I can't control any of that. You can think of me as a frontrunner or a flake. You can call what I did "lousy" - you can even say you have no respect for me as a poster here any longer or ignore everything I post going forward. All of that is up to you.
