Same man who said last year that Leonard would never play in San Antonio so he might have contacts in Kawhi's camp. I hope Jalen is right & Kawhi doesn't become a Laker.
"If KD goes to New York, he's not signing with the second team in town."
He's hit on some things too though, so we'll see. I'm all for him joining the Lakers and blocking all the East teams I hate from winning a title, but he can do that in Toronto as well.
Said 2 year deal so he can get super max on next contract for 10 years Â
They're winning the next 5 NBA titles. I believe Kawhi is the best player in the NBA right now, Lebron I would put at 2nd best, and AD is probably 5th best. And if Kawhi signs for good money I wouldn't even consider it an underhanded attempt at forming a "super team" at all. Lakers signed Lebron in 2018, traded fair and square for AD in 2019, and signed the top Free Agent out there.
I just don't understand why Kawhi wouldn't do it. I get it, staying in Toronto is the "honorable" thing to do, but with an aging Lebron he has a chance to be the best player on what has a chance to go onto to be the greatest dynasty in history. Lebron still gets to run the point on virtually ever play, so he'd be happy as well. And even if/when Lebron leaves (if he even does leave in the next half decade or so) you still have Kawhi paired up with the best big man in the NBA. IDK, just makes a lot of sense to me (and No I am not a Lakers fan).
We don't know much about the Kawhi Leonard free agency saga, and that's because according to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, teams were warned that leaking any info would harm their chances of signing the Finals MVP. Woj also indicated a decision could happen later on Wednesday or on the Fourth of July.

If he is hesitant to join the Lakers, it may simply be because he doesn't trust them as a franchise to make the right moves. But I think you're right -- it's the better decision.

I dunno, that stuff doesn't always work, especially if your roster is top heavy and you don't have a strong bench. 2003–04 Los Angeles Lakers season - ( New Window )
I admit to ignorance and/or revisionist history, so please correct any details here, but in the end even obvious outcomes get the kibosh at times. A few 'coulda shouda wouldas':
-MJ doesn't retire, Bulls have 8-9-10. And I'm a bitter NYK fan who feels if the NBA was called fairly no way. But given it isn't, why not?
-That Rockets team only won 2?
-Magic were going to be an all-time great. Then Shaq was either selfish or psychic LONG before the big 3 formula, with Penny & Nick Anderson and a solid cast? "Going to LA to further my rap & movie career" iirc. Not the extra $10M (that he was well worth even back then)
-If Kobe & Shaq found a way, there's even more in LA. And Kobe proves a shitload about his greatness 2x without Shaq
-How did the Spurs NOT win more?
-GSW cerca right now. KD stays (injury or not most likely), who's beating them?

Chris Broussard corroborated Jalen's take by saying the injury changed the Knicks mind. "Durant wanted to Knicks" seems to be true. Who would have thought it'd be the Knicks who blinked?
Chris Broussard has no fucking idea what’s happening Â
But even they admitted this would be brutal for the NBA. And it would be. Its not a good thing having 3 of the top 5 players on the same team. And its tough because i see both sides of it, the best players want to play with the best. But they ruin the competitiveness of the NBA. I have no idea what solution they could come up with to stop it.

Already setting yourself up for disappointment, lol
