NFT: FF thread draft preference discussion

superspynyg : 7/4/2019 5:48 pm
I am starting daily (well not daily but several per week) leading up to the season. Any one can start one but don’t do 10 different per day.

Rules: you must answer the OP before you ask a question of your own. No degrading others.

TODAYS TOPICS

What type of draft do u prefer? Snake? Bid?
How many teams?
Do you like standard or ppr?
Where do you like to draft this year? Top 4? Back 3?

Me: I like snake drafts with 10 teams per. I want top 4 this year to try to get a star Rb. Mine are all non ppr.
I would love to draft with a salary cap
Saos1n : 7/4/2019 5:57 pm : link
Never had to opportunity. I like snakes, but prefer if you can trade around.

I prefer PPR, because you can really make up ground at the RB position if you miss out on the top tier. More luck is involved with PPR, but it’s the way of the industry.

I’m starting first dynasty league this year. PPR. Pulled the 4th pick.

I’ve, since, traded up to #1. It was Barkley or busy for me. So excited

10 teams

QB
Two RBs
Three WRs
TE
Flex
K
Defense

Snake
PPR

Top 4 because you need that stud RB.

Drafting at the back end is better
WillVAB : 7/4/2019 10:19 pm : link
Of a 10 team league this year. Drafting 10th is the best imv.

The easier your decisions are the less likely you are to make mistakes. Less mistakes than your completion means you have a better roster.

Drafting 10 this year you could be fine going RB-RB or WR-WR depending how the draft goes in front of you. If teams go a mix of RBs and WRs before 10, you can go two of David Johnson Bell Connor and then hit WRs in round 3-4. If teams go RB heavy before 10 you can go Hopkins Julio and have a clear edge at WR over the field.

See I want a top 3 cause you’re guaranteed Barkley, Elliott, or McCaffrey. The problem is if you go WR/WR at 10... you’re RBs can be very interesting.

I guess it depends on the biases of the players in your league, but in the mock simulations I’ve done there’s decent RB options available at 30-31.
Prefer auction to snake
JayBinQueens : 7/5/2019 8:37 am : link
12 teams seems to be the sweet spot for our league and we do .5 ppr with no K and an extra flex.

Draft position isn't as important with an auction but you're able to use it strategically when you know who you're playing against

No future picks, although I’m going to look into moving around on draft day, while using future picks.
I like snakes and auctions equally

both have their pluses and minuses.

Gotta be at least 12 teams. Anything less than that, it would have to be a 2 QB league with lots of starting roster spots. Hate having lots of bench points.

PPR.

Any where but the middle this year.
I prefer auction
pjcas18 : 7/5/2019 9:51 am : link
hate that they take forever.

12 team is my preference, but one division, I don't like two divisions because it arbitrarily elevates a team due to division groupings.

I will do 10 team though, and without 2 QB's, just need to have smaller benches because with 10 teams every team can be stacked and I hate people can just stash players for whatever reason.

hate having kickers
hate having leagues were you can start 4 WR's (3 WR and a flex)
hate when defenses are too heavy, but also don't like where they are meaningless.

Usually prefer PPR
and 6pts per passing TD
small benches suck
YAJ2112 : 7/5/2019 9:55 am : link
rewards lesser FF players by allowing them to pick up players more easily to make up for their mistakes.

Same for anything that reduces the amount of starting players in a lineup.

have to do it in 10 team though and if you use a FAAB anyone can get anyone on waivers (theoretically).

to 10-team SuperFlex auction. by far the best league I have ever played in. I am a huge fan of SuperFlex formats.

Is that where you can start two QBs?

yes, we have one regular flex (RB/WR/TE) and then another SuperFlex spot where QB is an additional option.

Basically the idea is that almost every week you want to be starting 2QBs, but in a tough bye week spot you can survive and have a good shot to win with only 1.

Investing auction $ to get 3 QBs at good value prices becomes paramount. The auction in this league is very highly unpredictable and the strategy angles and staring contests are excellent.
Question
WillVAB : 7/5/2019 10:27 am : link
Took over a team in a keeper league last year and ended up with a pretty good squad. Get to keep 3, standard scoring, start 2 RBs and 3 WRs. No flex. I have:

Barkley
Bell
Connor
Tyreke Hill
TY Hilton
Kittle

Planning on keeping Barkley, Bell, and Connor even though we only start 2 RBs.

Devante Adams may be available in a trade — is Bell or Connor worth trading for Adams? Or should I just sit on the quality RBs and light up WRs in the draft?

I'd probably trade Bell for Adams. with only 2 RB's starting, why use a keeper spot for someone who may be on the bench when you can use it for a legit upper tier player at a position you can start.

Conner or Bell - whoever you think is less sure of being elite I'd trade.

Thanks — that’s my thinking as well.
