Breaking right now. Bunch of picks and Gilges-Alexander/Gallinari to Thunder.
Thankfully he's not going to the Lakers.
Clippers will be the favorites to win the title. This move makes the NBA at least interesting come playoffs. If he went to Lakers without injuries no reason to watch.

best young player and 7 additional first round picks for any player, especially a 29 year-old coming off of a surgery.
Well that team did to get Kawhi Leonard, top 5 player in the game. Oh and George finished in the top 5 mvp voting. They will be to contender's for the foreseeable future. Something the Knicks qomt know for a long time.
Knicks fans are still bitching about the time they traded Gallinari and Raymond Felton (and Melo finished top 6 in MVP voting). Yes, the Clips were over a barrel because they had to get Kawhi on board. But let's not pretend the Clips didn't give up a ridiculous amount of assets to get Paul George. And because everyone hates/wants to rag on the Knicks, they would've been destroyed universally for trading that much for Paul George. So the "How come the Knicks don't do something like that?" complaint is silly, at best, especially when it ignores the fact Kawhi was never playing in NY and he eventually went where he always wanted to go.
Wait how bout paying closer attention. The Clips made several moves to put themselves on such a position, like trading Tobias to get more draft capital and then absorbing Harkless for a first rd pick. Its moves like this that made this happen. Jerry West, that's all there is to it.
Wonderful.
Wade, Bosh, Allen, Irving, Love - all-NBA players before Lebron arrived. Oh let’s not forget he played in the East where it was complete shit for a decade.
Yep back to being irrelevant for another 20-25 years.

Trade for George and then sign Leonard? They had the resources and then some. They couldn’t trade Knox and other shit? Oh that’s right the Knicks didn’t even bother meeting with Leonard. Because why bother. They just want to foster a youth movement for the next ten seasons.
Maybe, just maybe, Kawhi didn't want to play here and it was a waste of time and effort?
If the Knicks waited until now and didn't get Kawhi and any other free agent, could you imagine what would be in the papers about them right now?
At the cost of losing out on the likes of eldrick Payton? I wouldn’t give two shits.
If the Knicks added Leonard and George and had to trade everything and then some? We’d all be thrilled.
But why bother. The Knicks had to lock down eldrick Payton and Julius Randle and some guy named bob, I think.
First of all it's elfrid not eldrick.
Secondly you're still missing the point. Kawhi really didn't want new York. It was a courtesy meeting. Maybe we had a shot with Durant. Maybe. We chose not to pursue Durant. Story over. Paul george wouldn't have sealed the deal for the Knicks. The clippers were a place he wanted to go and has made it known for a long long time.
If we had waited until July 6th to trade five firsts, Barrett and Knox for Paul george and not gotten Kawhi and been left with the free agent leftovers, we would have been destroyed up down right and left by the media,.worse than now.
I'm much happier where we are now than facing a much worse situation if anyone can believe that being possible.

OKC acquired THREE unprotected first-round picks from the Clippers in this trade (2022, 2024 and 2026), league sources say, PLUS two firsts from Miami (2021 unprotected and 2023 protected 1-to-14) ... AND the right to swap picks with the Clips in 2023 and 2025. Staggering

The Clippers will be without their 1st round pick in 2022 when George's contract expires at age 32 and Leonards enters his final year of his contract at 31. There is a chance that all three of those unprotected picks could be in the top 5.
If the Knicks gave up all that for a player who is 29 and already had one major injury I would be fucking pissed.

Damn Rose getting hurt.

IDGAF what anyone says... the same morons acting like RJ Barrett is trash because of what they saw last night wouldn't be throwing a parade over trading 7 first round draft picks and their best young player.
Wonderful.
He's made the finals with Dwayne Wade, Bosh, Kyrie, and Kevin love 80% of the time. He hasn't done it "alone" since his first stint in cleveland and even then he had years with Shaq, antawn Jamison, Ben Wallace, and more. When he's been left with "chicken fried shit" (see 2018 Lakers) he gets injured and misses the playoffs and pouts until he gets a wingman to hold hands with.
Next year will be as wide open as any season I can remember. Milwaukee is definitely the class of the east but they aren't unbeatable. Sixers should be interesting if this mix is better than last year's. Raptors and Celtics take a step back but both still good. Nets interesting but non-threatening until KD is back. Watch Riley nap Westbrook now and build an OKC-east in Miami with him and Butler.
GS, LAL, LAC seem like the top 3 teams in the west (NBA?) and all 3 have the makings of interesting identities. The Clippers should be a beast defensively, GS still has most of the championship roster pre-KD, now with Russell, and the Lakers have 2 of the top 3 two way players in the NBA. Houston, Portland, & Denver should both still be very good. The Mavs & Jazz may be on upswings.

one Knicks title.
lol and the raptors were in the final 8 teams for the prior five years so they were very much relevant for more than one season
LOL - were they really? College teams put up better efforts against Lebron.

And it was the prior 3 years. Because in 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 - they were gone after round1
I don't think there's any title argument for the Celtics, but I mostly agree about the rest (would probably put the Mavs > Jazz) and this NBA season. Most interesting one in a very long time.
There's absolutely zero to knock in how the Raptors approached the last 5 years.

And purchased the ultimate Golden State Warrior voodoo doll. Least we won’t have to put up with Drake for awhile.

God dammit I love this league. You can make title arguments for the following teams: Clips, Lakers, Jazz, Nuggets, Rockets, Blazers, Bucks, 76ers, Celts. It's going to be fun.

Mavs over the Jazz, what? Interested to hear the case for that. The Mavericks have 1 potentially great player, and a second good player that is always hurt. Nothing else to be excited about on the roster.
Utah is a very safe bet to win 50-55 games but not sure they have enough upside to compete in the playoffs beyond round 1. I would definitely bet they end up having a better season than the Mavs as both teams are currently constituted, but the Mavs have the higher ceiling if they fill out the roster around Doncic/Porzingas.

Nets fans have spent the past several seasons ripping Knicks fans for their love of Porzingas. Now that he’s been traded, he’s awesome!!!!

Not this net fan (or the majority of others who were very much in support of the offer sheet rumors when they came out last year). That's an amazingly sensitive trigger from a comment that nothing to do with either the 2 teams.
It's possible but that's not an uncommon thought for almost every 7 footer at one point or another. Brook Lopez was never going to stay healthy and then he has for 5 straight years.
MVP: Steph Curry
This was a defining day for the NBA for the 5 years. So damn happy he chose the Clippers instead of the Lakers.

I’d go Clippers and Giannis.

Your team is a little in limbo. They didn’t get worse but Morey has probably lost some sleep.
What about Teague/Wiggins for Paul and picks?
Big summer for Simmons. I'm still waiting on him to develop a credible midrange shot.
clippers vs bucks
Finals: warriors vs Sixers with Sixers winning
They have the salary and motivation to get it done. Not a ton of great options otherwise. Maybe Minnesota?
Rondo
Green
Lebron
AD
Cousins
But I woulda loved to hear him call 1 season w/ this Clips roster!
But Pat Bev, Paul George & Kawhi? that trio defensively is absurd. Then you have Lou Will dropping buckets and another dog in Montrez. Wonder how Doc feels about PG - he used to date Doc's daughter but was caught cheating.
Lakers will be solid, but for some reason i am a little wary on them.
So many moves i completely forget Golden State didn't go anywhere, in fact i liked them losing KD because they need more depth. When they first established themselves i remember Barbosa always coming in and giving them good minutes. Its sexy having a big time starting 5, but injuries and stamina can bite you.
I hate to say it, but the east broke nicely for Philly this year. I got cocky about the Bucks last year and then they folded. I think the Brogdon loss is huge. Still a good team though.
Can Boston get another guy? They'll still be good, but not a championship contender. How does Dipo come back for Indy? That was a terrible injury.
And lastly, My team in Brooklyn will be ultra fun to watch. I actually think they'll be better than people think without KD because they have awesome depth and a group of guys who really like each other. I'm confident about Kyrie's fit because Kenny is awesome with PG's, but more importantly Dinwiddie, Prince, Caris, Jordan, Kyrie etc. are all friendly off the courts. Roles are defined. BUT, i'm not naive. No KD, no chance at a title next year.
Knicks fans, i'm sorry but as long as Dolan owns the team its going to be tough for you guys.
Most excited i have been for the league in quite some time. Love the parity, love not knowing who is going to win. Will be interesting to see where Kevin Love goes during the season.

Agreed.
Achilles injuries are career-killers, though everyone forgot that this week because LOLKnicks.
Rondo

Oof.... rondo is useless with Lebron.
Meh. Better off with a guy like Korver.

I'm really looking forward to this Warriors season. Expectations obviously can't be as high, but it'll be interesting and entertaining as hell. Last year just felt like a slog and I couldn't get invested in it.
I'm ecstatic they signed Looney. I wish he'd play more at the 4 (or even 3, his projected original position) than as undersized center all the time though. I wonder if they'd be tempted to roll out a Curry, Russell, Green, Looney, Cauley Stein starting 5.
His Achilles injury absolutely curtailed his career, and it's still TBD if he'll be anywhere near the same guy.
The Nets would be wise to just let him redshirt all of next year, and really increase the chances of him coming back in the best shape he can be post injury.
