NFT: Spider-Man Far From Home

Sonic Youth : 7/6/2019 12:13 pm
Sorry if there's another thread, I missed it if there was and can delete.

What'd everyone think of this film? I really enjoyed it. I thought Gyllenhall had a really good performance and portrayed Mysterio well. Found Ned and Betty to be really funny, and feel these MCU Spidey movies really nail the whole high school aspect of things.

Also, without question, Holland is easily the best of the three live Spider-man(s). Do wish there was more NYC in the movie though.

JK Simmons being back is awesome
I liked it quite a bit.

Fun story, good villain and an amazing cliff hanger. 2 thumbs up from me.
I really liked it. Spidey has always been one of my favorites,

and the MCU Spider-Man movies have all been pretty consistently funny. Having JK Simmons back into the fold is awesome. I was wondering how they were going to portray Mysterio, and they nailed it. I’m very much looking forward to what comes next in the MCU, given what we saw in the end credits scene.

Was great, nice cliffhanger at the end there. I liked the movie a lot, had enough action and a lot of laughs.
I thought it was solid

Not my favorite MCU or Spider-Man movie but pretty good for a sequel in the MCU. Reminded me of Iron Man 3 at times with Peter having panic attacks and the villain being a former Stark employee who felt wronged by Tony.

Very interested to see what happens next with Spidey, it’s weird but cool having JK Simmons back. Where do they go next? Will Tom Hardy have a crossover movie with this Spiderverse?
Saw it last night

Thought it was great. MCU just continues to impress.

Was at the drive-in where the second movie was MIB international. That was pretty good, but probably my third favorite of the MIB films. Nice of them to have Hemsworth's character pick up and throw a hammer at one point. That was fun to see.
Wish he had the flat top back though
Geomon : 7/6/2019 3:45 pm : link
But it yeah, it was great to see him again.
I thought it was cool...

Tough spot to have to follow the epic nature of Captain Marvel and Endgame... But thought it was nice, light follow up..

Enjoyed the joke right off the bat about the "new phase" that was made by the high school students...because I'm seriously wondering what's next... I know a Black Widow movie is coming out and GOTG is delayed due to Gunn's schedule...I think there is another Black Panther and another Captain Marvel coming too?? I just can't wait to get to whatever is next!
the spiderman comicbook

fans are pretty lukewarm about it since it's the furthest version from steve ditko's vision.
I've gotten tired of superhero movies, but I liked it

Wanted to go to a movie, but the pickings were slim so we decided on Spiderman. It was a fun movie to watch and a lot funnier than I expected. I still get a giggle out of "Night Monkey."
A while back...maybe around the time of the third Raimi movie...

I said in a thread that I hoped to see Mysterio as a villain in a future Spider-Man movie, because he was my favorite villain in the 60's cartoon...and I got killed for it.

Well, fuck all you people now!
Saw it Friday

Incredibly average IMO
I enjoyed it

Not as good as Homecoming, and the twist is obvious to even a casual fan of the comic books. I did think they did a good job with Mysterio and his illusions keeping Spider-Man off balance.

I thought they handled the 'blip' very well, in terms of half of the population being five years older, including the kid who is Peter's rival with MJ.

And Spider-Man is never complete without JJJ - was really excited they brought back J.K. Simmons.

Speaking of post-credit scenes - where is Fury?
spiderman

it was ok movie

I must say that Endgame really feels like an end of MCU.
like it lost a bit of momentum
the original avengers seem more grounded and interesting
I am always bugged by the 5 year gap .. seems like a weird decision that will cause more problems down the road.

I am just am not so excited about Captain Marvel Dr Strange and Spiderman going forward .

The twist was obvious of course... but I think the whole joke about what everyone knows is called "Spidey-sense" being laughed off as his "Peter tingle" pays off REALLY well as being very specifically the reason he is able to defeat Mysterio in the end.

Captain Marvel is the one that get some really excited...

Also a potential GOTG with Thor would be awesome.

The thing I struggle with regarding Spiderman as part of the MCU... Couldn't Thor or Black Panther or Pepper or anyone really just come out and be like.. "Yo Spiderman/Peter is a good guy everyone, Mysterio was the bad guy...chill out" and then the whole public questioning goes away...

I was actually really happy that his Spidey-sense finally got its due in this one. I feel like it’s barely been touched on since he debuted.
