frozen/chilled is my preference, although the more custard-y varieties can probably be a bit warmer.

1x can condensed milk
1/2 cup key lime juice
1x package cool whip

mix it all together then toss that shit into a graham or oreo crust. Put it in the freezer for a few hours and serve. So refreshing.

It does have a pale yellow-green shade to it when made naturally with just key lime juice, but you're right that it shouldn't be bright green.
