With news of Brodie Van Douchefail having a meltdown in a meeting w coaches and throwing chairs around like a child how long before he resigns or gets fired along w entire coaching staff?
This is a joke of epic proportions. Most unqualified GM hire since Matt Millen,
Being a mets fan sucks.
Now there is little chance of convincing a good mind like Chaim Bloom to reconsider coming here.
I’ve really been slowly pulling away from the Mets since around 2008-2009. 2015 kind of reenergized me but as long the Wilpons are involved I can’t reinvest myself emotionally as a fan like I used to and I don’t and won’t support this ownership in any way financially.
Nido in 172 career PAs is .209/.233/.308. He is an atrocious hitter even for a backup catcher.
Especially if they were lollygagging.
That is a ridiculous premise IMO. The Mets have the 10th highest the payroll in MLB and it is $7M more than last year (total payroll - which includes Cespedes) - but the number last year included Wright and Cespedes too.
The Mets payroll includes $15M for Wright and $29M for Cespedes (which removed would make them around 23rd in payroll) but that's not how luxury tax works.
I think the payroll is what it's going to be because of the Wilpons 100%, regardless who the GM is.
Brodie van whatever his name is's appointment is just another in a long list of poor decisions made by the Mets ownership. There were talented analytics and development guys applying for that job, but they went with the player's agent. Go figure!
Omar's only saving grace was he somehow convinced them to sign Beltran - which is the most out of character move in the history of the franchise. Likely when they were madoff drunk.
League average payroll last year was $140m and went down to $135m this year, so more than likely the Mets have been spending below those league average on the field each of the past 2 years (and prior).
Here are all their amounts relative to league average since 2014 (these numbers per spotrac linked below):
2014 - $94m (league avg. $120m)
2015 - $115m (league avg. $129m)
2016 - $147m (league avg. $135m)
2017 - $144m (league avg. $140m) *wright on DL entire year
2018 - $150m (league avg. $140m)
2019 - $158m (league avg. $135m)
Again, all those numbers factor in Wright + Cespedes however the rules consider them (injured or retained salary) fully against the payroll without factoring in the insurance money. So in 2019 for example they are listed as $44m when we knew heading into the year most of that money was coming back via insurance/settlements.
2016 after the WS appears the be the only year they truly bumped the payroll up without expectation of insurance money.
MLB Team Salary Payroll Tracker - ( New Window )
That would have been awesome.
Except Mickey probably can’t even do that right.
It’s embarrassing, at the least your management is supposed to act with professionalism. If your owners and GM are a mess, that just sums up the rest. I feel bad for some come of the good Iplayers like McNeil and Alonso. They really could be a core. Too bad Coupons will piss it away.
You are the most disappointing Mets fan I have come across on here.
Stop posting shit about trolls every time I post something you disagree with or isn’t all happy frappy yay Mets.
It’s disappointing bc my first week on here I thought you were a reliable source to post with.
And damned if I do and d,send if I don’t post a link. It’s been on every single major sports news site. I
Redundant to post a link.

I'd have no problem offering Allard as the main piece even though I am not much of a fan of Wheeler's. Pache is close to untouchable.
NY is a very expensive place to live. NY is a very hard place to play. Bottom third in money spent on player salaries is not going to cut it.

Pache should be untouchable but I'm hoping he makes Waters dealable. Allard seems like a reasonable return that's more in line with what the headline piece for Wheeler will likely be, but I'm not sure I'd do that. Maybe if there was a really good 2nd piece.
The possibility of keeping Wheeler and worst case scenario getting a comp pick looks better and better when we look at our last few 2nd round picks (Wolf, SWR, Vientos, Kay, Alonso). Those guys were all borderline top 10 prospects in our system, with upsides, practically right away.

I'm pretty convinced Jeff has basically been the GM since the 2017/18 offseason. Overruled Sandy on Cherington/Omar, looking more like he chose Callaway, certainly explains why Sandy walked away at the first chance. Lord knows the 3 headed GM was probably his brainchild because it basically meant he was the actual GM with 3 loyalist advisors.

basically confirmed ownership wouldn't okay a deal with the Mets. Cheapons strike again. Trash organization.

"“I did think [signing with the Mets] was going to happen,” said Grandal, who has 19 homers, an .897 OPS and strong defensive metrics for the Brewers. “We had a really good conversation, Brodie [Van Wagenen] and I. We met. I think the meeting went great. Both sides were on the same page. We just couldn’t come to terms.”

Been told NYM offered ATL Zack Wheeler, but first asked for Pache. Told that was "laughed off." Told NYM came back asking for Kolby Allard, but Wheeler will be FA. HOU + MIL also looking at Wheeler. 929TheGame MikeConti929

While I don't want to give up Waters that is a very fair offer. Waters could be ready for Atlanta midseason of next year and the Braves could have an exciting young OF featuring 3 CF's with Acuna Jr in LF, Pache in CF, and Waters in RF with Riley moving back to 3B.
