but recently Humpty Dumpty chips began distributing in MA and their salt & vinegar are really good.
I rarely eat chips anymore though, because when I do I treat a bag of chips like a bottle of wine, no matter what size I pretty much can't open it without eating the whole thing.
Was at Fresh Market recently and they had Charles Chips. Bought a bag and it’s been 30 years since I had them? The noticeable difference was the amount of salt. Each chip gives the slight taste of salt where it is mostly aimed towards the potato flavor. Delicious. Lays and pretty much many others simply over salt.
It’s one of the cornerstone arguments in my group of friends. Since elementary school it’s been 5 on 1 with my one friend loving regular Wise chips and the rest of us loathing them. To me they are like plywood, chip dust that’s pressed together to make what resembles a chip.
When I was at Lehigh University.... my roommate and a lot of guys on my floor would beg for me or my parents to bring them down.
They have expanded since... but I know people in California who have them shipped monthly.
They are the best chip ever.
I find them in Philly every so often in a random store but whenever I visit my dad I'll grab a bag. Along with some A-Treat red cream soda and some Millers Hot Bologna. Ya know, health food.

Yeah they are expanding south. You find them at Weis in certain locations in the Lehigh Valley. They are sold out pretty quick. I don't have to drive an hour north anymore just to get them.
Chips. Lays regular are my #1, lays bbq#2 and lays sour cream and onion#3. I use to eat half a bag a day. Then about 10 years ago I had mt cholesterol check and it was very high. Wasn’t over weight at the time either. So I had to crack down on the chips. Will buy a bag maybe once a month.
State Line, from Massachusetts. Still, there are a lot I like. Herr's Frank's Red Hot, Wise Garlic and Onion, Utz Crab Chips, Regular Utz, Utz Red Hot, Cape Cods
to college in Central PA and used to eat Middelswarth chips a lot:

Any specific brand? Type? Flavor?
Born and raised in Northeast Pa.... so my obvious answer is Middleswerth BBQ, which are so addicting. Herr’s kettle cooked are probably next.
I really want to try making my own, but never got around to it...
Fun story. A few years ago, we were coming back from NY and stopped to get gas in PA and bought a big bag of Middelswarth chips. When we got home our daughter's friend came over saw the bag and said "Where did you get these?". Never put two and two together, but her name is Elizabeth Middelswarth and her Dad 's family runs the company.
she thought we brought them back for her and we had no clue.

Thank goodness we rarely get them outside of football season. A definite Giants game go-to, though.

I don’t think Lays BBQ sells in my area. A local owned company dominates the market on BBQ chips.
Herr's Old Bay Chips
Herr's Original
Kettle Brand Pepperconi Chips is a recent favorite

Was a sad day in town history.

At home. The Walmart Great Value sour cream and onion brand are really good.

Agreed...surprisingly good chips. The only problem is the bag feeds 25 people so I only get them when having a BBQ or something.
those are old school, they used to come in an aluminum can when I was little. Looks like you can still get them on Amazon.
