And it was life changing for the better. I just figured they had more experience with the traditional and therefore was more reliable.

recommends laser but there is a profit motive there. Just wondering if anyone has experience there with their results from both types and is the laser worth the extra expense.

I talked to my ophthalmologist who I like and trusted and she recommended the traditional. Everything went fine. That's the first conversation you should have. The second would be if you want to deal with reading glasses or not after the surgery. The 3rd would be if you're on Medicare or not.

I was told I need cataract surgery in the next 6 months.

done about 2 years ago. I had previous retina detachment surgeries in that eye so it may have been more of an issue for me. Insurance only covered the traditional method, so I had to pay all additional charges. Keep that in mind, depending on your insurance coverage. Good luck.
