Robinson limits himself with his minutes
Ten Ton Hammer : 7/9/2019 10:47 pm : link
The way he goes for every block and collects fouls. He should get big minutes when he earns it. Everyone's so nervous about how much he should play when he hasn't even shown for sure he's grown past keeping himself on the bench.

Hes a 7 footer in a league where players get hurt all the time. Roster depth is a thing.
That's it, trade the whole team for Westbrook. How can you go
Jim in Hoboken : 7/9/2019 10:48 pm : link
win-less when you came in as the favorite? This is fucking embarrassing.

Are Mills and Perry even around for this mess?

Knox just seems too comfortable going 4 for 15. He has no balance and his drives to the hoop are simply awkward. I guess we'll hope he can develop into a dead-eye catch and shoot guy.

I like that Barrett is more assertive at least.
Anyone who wants to get all excited about a summer league performance

Just remember Kevin Knox last year...

Tyler Herro > RJ Barrett. The Heat got the next Devin Booker and RJ is the next Shabazz Muhammad.

You should call every GM in the league and ask them which they'd rather have.

Why so serious, lol? Guess the overreactions from others is weighing on you
I hope Marcus Morris isn't watching this one.
bceagle05 : 7/9/2019 10:56 pm : link
.
Knox is a disappointment for me. I just don't see him as having the
yatqb : 7/9/2019 10:59 pm : link
talent to become a significant piece on a top team.
Barrett is showing way more flashes in this game
Anakim : 7/9/2019 11:05 pm : link
Encouraging to see
Iggy's D positioning is not bad at all
ChaChing : 7/9/2019 11:12 pm : link
he's not athletic but might have quick enough feet and a better motor to make him serviceable at least

D was supposed to be a weakness iirc, but he looks better than that, if not best of this group so far (not saying too much but still)
RJ settling in some
ChaChing : 7/9/2019 11:14 pm : link
a few more good plays than bad this half
Keep the ball high Mitch!
ChaChing : 7/9/2019 11:16 pm : link
Had an easy dunk taken away by a G
Barrett solid play there
ChaChing : 7/9/2019 11:17 pm : link
spin toward the rim then a sweet pass for an Iggy dunk
Well so much for favorites in SL
ChaChing : 7/9/2019 11:20 pm : link
but Barrett much better esp 2nd half

Iggy quieter but still solid

Mitch still Mitch, fun to watch. Lots of blocks
Well....
moespree : 7/9/2019 11:20 pm : link
I don't find much particularly impressive about this summer league for the Knicks. Similar problems for some of these players that were present last season. Probably not a good sign.

That being said, I won't dwell on summer league either. Let's see what happens when training camp and exhibition games start.
17/10/6 for RJ.
bceagle05 : 7/9/2019 11:23 pm : link
Best thing he can do in the short term is work on those free throws - he has a knack for getting to the line.
RJ is tough and competetive
Chris L. : 7/9/2019 11:34 pm : link
he will be fine. Showed some of that point guard he displays from the 2 guard slot in the second half. Knox still needs to get stronger and be more physical. I would love to see his first half/second half splits. It always seems like he tires as the game goes on. The guy is still really, really young. Once his body fully matures he is going to be a REAL good player.
Somewhat ironic if Morris
ChaChing : 7/10/2019 1:29 am : link
renegs on SAS of all teams to come to NYK, after all the shit talk on the franchise

Doesn't mean anything, it's just funny in context
Now that Barrett showed his potential
Canton : 7/10/2019 5:48 am : link
As a future triple double threat..

All the critics disappeared.

Typical BBI..
Can't wait until he puts it all together
Canton : 7/10/2019 5:52 am : link
May not be next year or the year after. BUT I'm confident he will.
That first half...
Jan in DC : 7/10/2019 8:52 am : link
was atrocious. I think that they're just going out there expecting to win. Glad Buechler started to crack the whip a little bit. Too many guys playing bad basketball when they're supposed to be working on developing their game.
Knox
TyreeHelmet : 7/10/2019 8:59 am : link
What position do you guys view him as? To me he's more of a 4 than 3.

To me, he is a Brandon Ingram or Chandler Parsons (before he signed the big contract) type; a skilled and long wing who should be a solid 15 ppg scorer.
Allen was unbelievably bad
Greg from LI : 7/10/2019 9:51 am : link
Don't know what they see in that guy
Barrett
Jon in NYC : 7/10/2019 9:59 am : link
looked great last night. 17-10-6 in a 40 minute game with 3 blocks and only one turnover. 4-4 from the FT line too.

Entirely different player than games 1 and 2.
Great is a bit much

Barrett did look good last night. The team as a whole, not so much.

Yeah but he didn’t go to Virginia...
Almost?

You have a broadly expansive definiton of that word, apparently.
Allen

wants to be that guy who loses a good shot at the roster with his SL performance doesn't he? lol

The player we should see consistently if he works hard enough for it. Which by all accounts, he should.

Hahaha this is such a strange fight for you to pick.
If
DanMetroMan : 7/10/2019 10:34 am : link
the Knicks insist on adding veteran mentors, I'd take Shaun Livingston.
He def looked better...
Italianju : 7/10/2019 10:37 am : link
still not great to me though. Much better job getting to the basket for sure. Id like to see him finish on a real high note tonight.

Allen is garbage, no reason he should make the team. A guy his age with his experience should look at least solid in SL and he looks awful.

He has no shot. I thought Wooten did poorly too. The last spot will be either Marcus Morris or Lance Thomas
Wilkes
DanMetroMan : 7/10/2019 10:38 am : link
missing SL really hurt him, helped Wooten though.
with trier out our guards have been a joke...
Italianju : 7/10/2019 10:40 am : link
not even counting Barrett's poor play. I mean ive watched every minute of all the games and gun to my head im not sure i can remember any of the other guards names.
If Lance Thomas remains on this team
Greg from LI : 7/10/2019 10:44 am : link
then I give up
At least he looked okay going to the basket
Ten Ton Hammer : 7/10/2019 10:45 am : link
I have real questions about why RJ Garrett was so highly touted when he seems to be apparently average athletically. Does anyone know how he tested at the combine?

His athleticism was overhyped in HS because of his dominance. Here is Givony April 2017

"-Excellent upper body but thin lower body. Legs are a bit bowed out. -Didn't look as explosive as he has in the past. Was slightly hampered by a lower extremity injury - had come straight from Dick's Nationals where he reportedly hurt his knee. Moves in a bit of a herky jerky fashion. Has yet to reach his athletic potential? -Struggled a bit to get by long athletes thanks to his so-so burst (maybe due to injury) and very raw handle - loose, away from his body. Makes an effort to change speeds but doesn't do so with much force. Left hand dominant at this stage. -Not as explosive around the rim in traffic as he is in space. Relies more on his length and ability to finish from different angles than pure explosiveness. Has shown he has a higher degree of explosiveness in the past - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/R.J.-Barrett-91144/ ©DraftExpress

I think this is a really good assessment. Was impressed with how strong he was but I definitely wouldn't call him explosive.
RJ looked better last night which is encouraging

Ignas “MICHIGAN MAN” Brazdeikis with 30 points and 8 rebounds. As expected.

So many players were highly touted from high school and didn't live up to the hype. Lance Stephenson, Austin Rivers, Shabazz Muhammad, Perry Jone, and the list goes on

OJ Mayo, Jahlil Okafor, Harry Giles, Skal Labissiere, Senor Wiggins...

But I will say that with possibly the exception of Wiggins, Barrett was more highly-touted than all of them.

The difference is none of those players were great college players. RJ was an all american.
Harry
DanMetroMan : 7/10/2019 11:33 am : link
Giles? He averaged 7 and 4 on 50% shooting, 14.4 PER as a 20 year old rookie. Why is he included? He may yet disappoint but so far so good.
Emmanuel Mudiay was the #2 overall HS player

nose dived after a year in college (or abroad). Okafor was still highly thought of though is time at Duke did raise some serious concerns about his defensive ability.
2001 might have been the worst recruiting class of all time

The 2001 RSCI top ten:

1: Eddy Curry
2: Kelvin Torbert
3: Dejuan Wagner
4: Tyson Chandler
5: Ousmane Cisse
6: Kwame Brown
7: Julius Hodge
8: DeSagana Diop
9: Rick Rickert
10: David Lee

Two good NBA players in the top ten, that's it.
