Justified? - Not justified?
Out of curiosity, just glanced over 2019 preliminary fantasy player rankings for drafting purposes. Think it was ESPN, might have been NFL.com.
Noticed that Eli was not in the top 30 QBs ranking. This surprised me. I would say:
SURPRISED / NOT JUSTIFIED
what say you?
I'll leave it at that.
He was ranked 16th last year in points (in some leagues). He didn't throw many TDs and losing OBJ doesn't help that. He also doesn't get any rushing yards or TDs. And then there is Daniel Jones waiting in the wings.
First of all, the Giants offense looks to be build around Saquon and a short passing game. Saquon is going to be a top 3 pick in every fantasy draft. So you need to consider that.
Second, I think they are factoring in that Jones is likely to get playing time at some point this season, and could happen early.
That Eli is not going to produce any rushing yards or QB sneak TDs, he's not an attractive fantasy QB.
I am hoping with better OL play that changes this year, but yeah.
There are no FF points for audibling to the right play.

Engram and Shepard have both been FF starters the last couple of years.

Other than Beckham or Barkley, who on our offense would anyone take from a FF perspective for the past 4 years... lol?

Fair enough but you get my point. I'm sure no one was fighting over drafting Engram or Shep... at least not before this year.

Engram has been drafted as a top 7 TE the last 2 years and was going in the round 5-7 range.

OK that's actually good news... lol. Still, only 2 successful FF players over the last 4 years, and add in Barkley last year. Not exactly people beating down the doors to draft Giants offensive players. I really am expecting that to change this year, based on year 2 in the system and better OL play. I have a feeling we surprise the rest of the league this year. Maybe it's just my eternal preseason optimism.
Manning finished 2018 as the No. 17 scoring quarterback, which marked his first top 20 since 2015. Incredibly, the 38-year-old has posted one season better than 10th over the past 13 seasons. Manning has devolved into a conservative passer as he's ranked bottom 10 in aDOT each of the past two seasons. He isn't particularly efficient and offers very little with his legs with 37 rushing yards on 48 carries over the past three seasons. The Giants improved their offensive line, but swapped out Odell Beckham Jr. for Golden Tate during the offseason, which suggests New York is likely ticketed for a low-scoring, run-first offense heavy on short-area passing. Manning, who figures to defer some late-season starts to Daniel Jones, shouldn't be drafted in most formats.
To contend in FF, you better have a QB that will throw for over 25TD's and be a threat to run as well. Even if it is like Brees with a couple QB sneak TD's a year.
It's not just total points, which Eli ends up looking better in because he plays every game. It's points per week that is much more meaningful. Eli was around 16th in total points for QBs depending on scoring system, but he was 24th in points per game last year amongst QBs who played at least 8 games..
Those other guys probably have upside Eli doesn't have
Eli is undraftable in FF. If I HAD to draft a NYG QB, I would only draft Jones
So.... I think i agree

All the fantasy experts will proclaim he was their sleeper.
If you’re surprised...
Fantasy rankings don't mean too much in this type situation.

Lol 2 rushing td’s well it is fantasy
I want Eli to make all of us eat shit this year!
