davis webb

sound familiar?
He looked good in gmen offseason too
Gotta admit I did think he would make team last yr

Via Hughes, former Giants’ third-rounder Davis Webb had an impressive offseason program, so impressive that he apparently jumped Siemian late in the OTA process. Hughes writes that Webb was the second quarterback to take the field during the final set of OTAs.

Hughes adds that the Jets would like to keep only two quarterbacks on the final 53-man roster. Siemian, however, has $1 million of his one-year, $2 million contract fully guaranteed. (He already has earned a $750,000 signing bonus.) So cutting Siemian and keeping Webb (who has a non-guaranteed salary of $645,000) would create enhanced expense and wasted money.

It also would create the risk that, if the Jets need Siemian later, he won’t be available. Whether he’s signed by another NFL team or by the fledgling XFL — which plans to gobble up third- and fourth-string quarterbacks who are cut from NFL rosters — Siemian could be long gone if/when an injury creates a reason to bring him back.

Ditto for Webb, who also could land with another team, or with the XFL.

Another option, as Hughes notes, would be to trade Webb, who was regarded as having a bright future before he washed out with the Giants. Maybe that future is getting brighter, whether it’s with the Jets, another NFL team, or ultimately as one of the eight starters for Vince McMahon’s resurrected spring league.

So a guy averaging
dep026 : 7/12/2019 10:37 am : link
over 30 TDs per season and over 4300 yards, with one offensive weapon, not in his prime of his career (33-35 hardly someone's prime) is something we should looked down upon?

You want to start what your consistently wrong about? Start there.
Oh QB rating
dep026 : 7/12/2019 10:38 am : link
thats a cute way to explain why you have no clue what you are talking about. I see some great QBs up there. Tyrod Taylor, Macus Mariota, Alex Smith...

Please quit while you are ahead.

Then he watched Barkley have an incredible year and still whined and bitched about not taking a QB.

All fucking year long.

Another post that has nothing to do with the content of the thread but to attack the poster. You're right, you arent a troll. You are an absolute nutjob who stalks other posters.

You are a very creepy dude.

Isn't this even more fun. How about a stat that means every more than TD's? 23-25 record during that span. And yes, 33-35 is absolutely still the prime of most QB's careers in today's NFL. Or are you arguing that he's been on the decline for the past 7 yrs? Either way your argument sucks.
RECORD - ( New Window )
Oh I am sorry
dep026 : 7/12/2019 12:44 pm : link
I forgot team record was solely on the QB. Want to do more fun facts?

From 2014-2016, Giants ranking:

rushing:
2014: 23th yards per game, 30th YPA
2015: 19th yards per game, 18th YPA
2016: 29th yards per game, 30th YPA

average: 22nd yards per game, 26th YPA

defense:
2014: 29th yards per game, 22nd points allowed
2015: 32nd yards per game, 30th points allowed
2016: 10th yards per game, 2nd points allowed

average: 22nd in yards per game, 18th in points allowed.

Give it up Josh. It's ok to admit when you are wrong.
And again
dep026 : 7/12/2019 12:49 pm : link
this isnt to say Eli isnt responsible for the record of the last seven years, but when we are placing the blame solely on him like Josh did, it shows that there might be more agenda than opinion.

This season, we're going to find out what Eli has left
UberAlias : 7/12/2019 1:04 pm : link
one way or another. All this bickering is pointless. By season end, you'll have been proven right or wrong. This is actually quite an intriguing storyline to the season, in my eyes. My guess is, we're going to see a whole lot of twisting the story to fit the narrative from somebody. Question is, who?

We are already assuming the defense is going to be good and the OL will be a positive?

I mean hell, I am as positive as the next guy as the direction of the team, but lets not assume before training camp starts.
So if the defense struggles and the oline is average

Defense struggling means we are one dimensional and not have the ball a lot, and an average OL means inconsistent play from everyone. Not too hard.
Its not too hard because
Jimmy Googs : 7/12/2019 1:38 pm : link
its a pretty shallow thought process.

This is not in opposition of him, but at some point the defenders of the faith are going to need to submit that Eli can be reasonably and fairly judged under many conditions...

Are you deliberately trying to sound clueless? What's Eli's record the past 6 yrs? I'll help you...it's 38-57. Only a clueless homer would say that's acceptable from a QB.

Ultimately it would shock me if Webb beats out Semian. Semian is a middling starter but a top backup and if god forbid something happens to Sam...he's a guy you'd have confidence in to at least be a low risk game manager for a few weeks

That said Webb has surprised a lot of people and hope he keeps it up. Could be some trade value building here

100% I’m hard on the QB. It’s the most important position on the field and ultimately the one most responsible for wins and losses in my eyes. Thats not to say Eli is 100% culpable for the Giants recent ineptitude. But he absolutely deserves a disproportionate share of the blame.
And yes

No there is no value building there. There is no new tape on Webb since the Giants cut him and every team passed on claiming him for free.

The coaches raved about him last year and look what happened. There is not going to be a market for Webb just because a few coaches praise him once again.

See here’s the thing Josh. You”re incessant whining and crying over the Barkley pick than the Daniel Jones pick takes up so much of this hoard when it happened, no one bothered reading another thing of yours. You cried about it before, during, and after the draft.

And your constant bitching of Barkley over Darnold I find HIGHLY amusing since you HATED Darnold before the draft and wanted us to draft Josh Allen. Now I’m sure you’re going to deny you never wanted Darnold, but everyone on this thread knows it’s not true. Then you were all over trading for Rosen when again - you didn’t even want him before the draft last year.

If there’s one thing that’s constant about draft time. You’re not big and complaining.
