Forget the whole purist nonsense. I just want an honest, accurate game for both teams. Put the umps on the bases and in the outfield. We'll review those calls if we have to.

I completely agree. The absolute refusal for umps to be held accountable is infuriating. They just continue to call whatever they think a strike should be without any consequences for calling shitty games. They just go out the next game and do the same...
A baseball fan for 50+ years, I'll stop watching/follow baseball for good. I pay for MLB just to watch the Mets. Whats next AI techknowledg refes for football @ basketball.

Did you read the article? I'm about as much of a purist as anyone and after reading it, I thought it sounded like if done right it could be a good idea.
Now get the pitchers to throw rather than dawdle and if a batter steps out of the batters box to adjust his batting gloves, confiscate the fucking gloves.

Yes. I read the article. Why pay a guy to sit there and listen for the call in his ear. Screw that. Its a game played by people and judged by people. I'm sick of the frame by frame instance replay. We will never have a perfect game. Sorry for the choppy post I hate trying to type on my phone
but for me, any game that can't follow it's own rules whether because of human error, subjectively written rules and the like is pointless
If they can't get the SZ right you don't get an even competitive balance. That means the result is not all that definitive. It means a lot of times the winner isn't the better team, and not because of better plays that game but random calls
Like an experiment with inconsistent controls - you wouldn't get a clear result. The strikezone IS a control. If you get that wrong - even randomly - how can you be sure who scored more even in that single game? Plus SZ is THE fundamental rule. Any chance to get it right should be a must
and I want to see it happen. I don't mind consistent strike zones even if generous. Cannot accept one time it is a ball and next it is a strike and it wobbles through the game, especially on consecutive pitches.
in MLB the better. The umpires constantly blow balls and strikes each game and it hurts the product. To make matters worse, some of these umpires have personal biases and huge egos. Sooner the impact of these guys on the games is lessened by technology, the better.
Lessening the impact of the line judges in tennis has been a clear win for the game because of how good and fast the tech is. It'll have the same impact in baseball if they could put together tech that efficient and fast (which already available for balls and strikes).

Stepping out of the box without a good reason should be an automatic strike against the batter. We don’t need OCD Nomar Garciaparra imitations after every single pitch
Why? I'd imagine the same way Judge will benefit from not getting called on the low strike, Altuve won't get called on the high ones. Seems to me the strike zone would be adjusted for every batter individually, and it'd be better for everyone.
I think long term it gives the league more O without changing rules Â
I could be wrong, but IMO now pitchers have a lot less leeway to miss - even ignoring umps tendencies
Hitters will have a lot less guessing, a lot less bitching about the call either way (because it will be accurate more often than it is now). The SZ now is the same for your every AB - per the rule. Vs arbitrary wide or low strikes for example, if not just from human error pitch to pitch

Seriously, it's long overdue. If you have the technology to make the game better, why not use it?

Considering the bitching in those threads at times, I imagine we'll find something new to bitch about.
Games went so much smoother before all this tech crap.
Get off my synthetic lawn!
You resemble that remark.
