Former Vols and Titans star Albert Haynesworth is experiencing kidney failure and is seeking a transplant.

The 38-year-old longtime NFL defensive lineman posted the news on Instagram on Wednesday night, explaining the situation and sharing a phone number to call if a person is interested in donating a kidney.

Since then there has been an outpouring of support for Haynesworth, a two-time Pro Bowler who spent seven seasons in Tennessee during his 10-year NFL career. He retired in 2011 and his since battled several significant health issues.

Way too many people are in the same position. On a positive note, there has been some progress toward reducing the backlog through bipartisan federal action.
Some nice news, - ( New Window )

Very possible. I’m just curious if there was a history of steroid use that cumulatively led to his health problems..I mean a lot of dirty shit goes on during a game, some of which we never see, but blatantly stepping on someone’s head smacks of ‘roid rage, even if unto itself, proves nothing.
I remember when Kenny Easley suffered kidney issues that he

attributed to overuse of Advil. Looked it up, and the case was settled out of court. But given what these players go through, it could be anything. They are our modern day gladiators.

Morning Matty. Yes, that’s the usual cause that would contribute. I was just curious if there was steroid use during his playing days..

My guess would be yes. But how much that would affect the kidney if a lot less IMO than obesity and the two biggest I mentioned. Also black people have lea nephrons as u might recall from Med school.
