Other favorites - good fig filled cookies (Fig Newtons are OK but far, far, far from the best), oatmeal cookies are my long-time favorite, and good snickerdoodles are great, too.
Underscoring my usual position as outside the mainstream, I really don't care for chocolate chip cookies.
If you're on the NY Thruway pretty much from the Plattekill rest stop to Albany, the oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies at the Gray Mouse Farm booths outside (Under the Taste of NY tents) are the best cookies of all time.
It turns out that they have like a hundred flavors and every time a new one hits the shelf, I have to try it. A couple of weeks ago it was S'mores, last week latte, this week megastuff....
But, when I was a kid and I ate cookies my favorites were:
Store bought: chips ahoy. regular, original.
Home made: my mothers peanut blossoms, but if magic bars count as cookies they win in a landslide - those were my exception to not liking sweets.
Christmas was a month long event, my mother would make trays of christmas cookies and bring them to half the world.
Peanut blossoms, chocolate chip, anginettes, sugar cookies pressed into christmas shapes, snowballs (these cookies covered in confectioners sugar), etc. etc..
Has always been my favorite. Although a chewy chocolate chip is alway great
Underrated back in the day
Archway brand molasses or oatmeal cookies I loved. Used to eat the whole 8 cookie package and one time. Mmm!
I am going to gym. Then I am stopping at some bakery!
RE: For some reason I've been binging on Oreos lately Â

Ever try mint Oreos? Mint cream in the middle......oh man!!

yup. Mint, lemon, coconut.... haven't tried carrot cake or red velvet cake but they are out there.
chocolate chip. My pet cookie peeve- when you end up with a f'ing raisin cookie cause it's not labeled and it looks like chocolate chip. Nowadays you've gotta be really careful- I went to a buffet recently when they had carob chip, sugarless chocolate chips, gluten free cc, low fat choco chip. disgusting
I love Pepperidge Farm milk chocolate macadamias. Â
we had a Chinese bakery near our apartment that made the most amazing crumbly crisp almond cookies with a chocolate dollop in the center. They looked something like this:
White Chocolate Macadamia Nut
Black & Whites
Rainbow Cookies
Thin Mints
Homemade Pignoli Nut cookies as I prefer cookie softer and store bought always seems to harden

The accidental raisin cookie grab when expecting a chocolate chip cookie has to be the biggest letdown in the cookie kingdom

I always feel bad for the guys in orange jumpsuits who don't have access to cookies. Amirite?
Two of my favorites are in the work vending machine. I'm glad I cut out sugar and carbs because I'd be 300 pounds. I'm talking about Milanos and Fudge Stripe. For my birthday I'll have one of the two, have resisted temptation for the first 6 months.
There's an Italian bakery near me that makes a cookie Â
Called Calabresi con Noci that is absolutely fantastic. Problem is I can't find anything online that resembles it. It's got no real formed shape, just kind of spooned onto a baking sheet it looks like, it's a chocolate cookie with walnuts mixed in and looks like it's dusted with sugar

Agreed. I especially like them if they are hot, so that the chocolate is slightly melted and soft.
I like your style.

I would also nominate my wife's large oatmeal cookies with chocolate and white chocolate chunks.

Great cookie at a very good price point
Man the chocolate chip in that pack is practically perfect
Italian cookies from the bakery are the best.
