It was obvious he was still using. He looked and acted like any other 50 yr old crackhead. He chose drugs over sobriety long ago . He can't be helped. He likes drugs.

driving too slowly on a highway, failing to maintain the lane and for having overly tinted windows.
2 guys from my softball team are both Port Authority cops. They told me when Robinson Cano was playing in NY he was pulled over numerous times crossing the GW bridge because of too much window tint. He was usually drunk when they stopped him. They never arrested him but made him leave the keys and car there and would give him a ride home. They used to tell him if he would just fix the tint he wouldn't get stopped.

of famous people/celebrities. I never really give two shits about them, treat them just like anybody else.
But I went to a Rays game vs the Mets a couple of years ago and Doc was seated in front of me, signing autographs.
Right in front of me...Doctor K. Let me tell you, I was incredulous. I turned to my wife, "DO YOU KNOW WHO THAT IS?! THAT'S DOC GOODEN!!!! DOCTOR K!!!"
He and so many of those late 80's Mets were my heroes growing up. It's so strange that all these years later, they still impact me. I cried when Gary Carter died, I was so sad.
I wish he would stop this. I wish he would straighten his life out and live sober.

I used to go to a lot of Mets games back then and even when he was a rookie he was one of the best I have ever seen. I was at his one hitter in 84 against the Cubs (Ray Knight really cost him the no hitter) and he was amazing. Just a joy to watch.
Really he and Stawberry cheated themselves out of achieving their full potential. Glad at least Strawberry turned himself around. Gooden could never truly get out from under it.
Sad, but not very shocking.
Or what figgy said.
Someone clearly doesn’t understand addiction.

Until he wrecked...
And possibly killed somebody.
He was my idol growing up in the 80's. Hard to believe he still can't shake it..
He plays in New York now.
He could not have been more nicer
Him and Daryl were my 1 and 2 on the Mets in the 80s
Just very sad and breaks my heart

This was happening when he played for the Yankees. Hopefully he's not still driving around the city drunk with overly tinted windows.
