That was just speculation about possible trades. Who might be available, who might be interested. Nothing about any two teams actually talking, but that was a couple of days ago.
Will be 29 in a few days and is due to make 5.8 million this season (UFA after this upcoming season). I would not give up more then a late rounder for him
This defense might actually start looking dangerous..
Yeah his 5 sacks over the last two years will catapult us to a good defense. Yes I know he had a bunch if QB pressure but he has not been able to get to the QB the last few yeara. Sounds like Olivier Vernon to me
RE: There was an article Dawg posted the other day from The Ringer... Â

Looks like Emlen's link is a word for word plagiarize of The Ringer's speculation. The NFL Chatter site looks to have embellished The Ringer's speculation with the insinuation that the Giants have called/Texans are listening. Not really concrete and no way to prove so they can embellish as much as they would like without having to prove the assertion.

type at $5.8 instead of $17+? Especially with what the Giants currently have at the position. That sounds like pretty good value to me if they can get him for like a 5th.

who doesn't think he'd be a huge improvement to the pass rush is kidding themselves.
The Giants wanted Chubb last year and Allen this year. You know they are looking for a pass rusher. If he's really available in trade, I could definitely see this happening.
This could be a salary dump if true to help sign Clowney Â

Hmmmmm we wanted Allen? News to me.
It is? Gettleman said they really liked him and there were reports that we tried to trade back up to get him.
Jerry isn't going to trade Collins to the Giants. For that matter, I wouldn't want him in FA. We saw Pugh mail it in against the Eagles every year. We don't need to see Collins mail it in against the Cowboys.
The Giants need to replace the pressure Vernon provided.
I know it's not exciting to reference pressure as a stat for many, but remember that being under pressure drops the average QB's passer rating by something like 15 points.
What the Giants don't need is a pass rusher who's hell bent on sacking the quarterback, loses contain a lot, and misses assignments. Add in the increased risk of penalty now with how you even tackle or brush the QB, and it's just less valuable than many think.
If the sack is there it's a great thing. But the obsession with raking up sacks is silly. Five sacks net around 30 yards and less than one turnover.
Over pursuing a QB and giving up one big pass play easily can negate that.
They had to use him differently last year based on injuries and scheme. They are excited to get him back in to his pure edge role, a position that he graded out well in the second half last year. I would be very surprised if they traded him

Sounds like a lot less expensive than Vernon.
Might be a good stop gap to help a team in need of pass rush.
I'd be more inclined to believe this if it cited any reputable source. Â
One of our own beat writers, or, say, John McClain in Houston. Instead it cites "reports." Whose reports? It doesn't say.
Frankly, with the Giants already gambling on one veteran OLB returning to the level of play he was at before he got hurt, I don't see them gambling on another one. Add to that the investments they've made in Carter and Ximines, and I don't see them bringing in someone who'd hinder their development by taking playing time away from them. It's not like the Giants are one pass-rusher away from Super Bowl contention. It seems to me they're building long-term. I'd rather they stayed that course.
When you are the #3 or 4 pass rusher with Clooney and Watt ahead Â

Huh?
What is so confusing? Pugh managed his yearly injury to coincide with an Eagles game and on the occasion that he suited up for the matchup, he flat out sucked. Only on BBI was Pugh considered to play at or near a pro-bowl level. Yet every year he wasn't considered as an back-up selection to a an alternate of a an actual pro-bowl nominated player.
While Collins likely loves money more than the Cowboys, he has professed his interest in being a Cowboy for life. I wouldn't want him in FA just on the chance that he develops an injury every season when the Giants play the Cowboys.

Sorry but this has to be one of the funniest conspiracy theories i’ve read in forever.

Diver - I am not sure I understand this. Was Pugh afraid f a particular Eagle's defensive lineman that lined up across from him? That is a serious question .... why the Eagles? Why not other teams?
Also Pugh was drafted by the Giants - what alliance did he have to the Eagles ... to "mail it in"? Not sure about your analogy ....
The only thing I agree with is the trade probably won't happen but, if Collins is a FA - Jerry won't have a choice.
I didn't mean to imply he was a coward against the Eagles. But Pugh had gone on the record that he was an Eagles fan growing up along with his fans. My implication is that he didn't give 100% effort on the few occasions that he suited up against the Eagles. On those occasions where he was hurt and that the Eagles were on the upcoming schedule, Pugh would be able to nurse his injuries so he didn't have to come back.
Case in point the one year Pugh had an MCL sprain. It coincidentally happened at the same time Big Ben had an MCL sprain. The unique timing provided a gauge of how much time a player would miss. Big Ben one of the biggest drama queens in the league was able to return to the lineup 2 games before Pugh. Pugh missed an Eagles game during that time.
Now, perhaps that is a lot of tinfoil to wrap around and bake up such a conspiracy theory. Perhaps, applying Occam's Razor, one can conclude that Pugh wasn't harboring some childhood allegiance but rather he was just a soft, shitty player.

The defense already looks good without him.
Also he missed almost all of 2017 to injury so drawing from his 2017 stats is ridiculous.

Sorry but this has to be one of the funniest conspiracy theories i’ve read in forever.
And then everything they have said about Golden is lip service.
That could be an improvement.
Martin was a disappointment.
Mercilus is a good player.
I'd be for it.
-Paul Perkins and a 4th?
-Janoris Jenkins?
I wouldn’t want to part with a 3rd or lower. I’d be willing to deal Perkins.
I think they are looking for cap relief more than anything if this report is true and that is a big IF.
I would be open to a third-rounder.
Open by offering a fourth - let them counter with a second and then settle on a third
