I have not been since I was a kid, but will be taking the family in a few weeks to the Canadian side. Any recommendations on tours or the best way to see the falls? Is it still the maid of the mist?
in August and have never been, also staying on Canadian side, so I'd love to see if this thread gets good responses.
I think it's still call Maid of the Mist, but it's on the US side, so advice I got was don't drive (depending where you are staying) since you'll be in traffic cross the border.
There is a similar thing to maid of the mist on the Canadian side, but not sure if it's as good or not.
We are going to Toronto for a day to see the Hockey hall of fame and the CN Tower.
And online it looks like this website has lots to do for the kids.
Is nice. You can take a self guided tour through the caves behind the falls. The Maid of the Mist is on the US side but there is an equivalent on the Canadian side. Make sure you go back at night too to see it all lit up. The zip line doesn’t go across the falls. It runs parallel to the river, it was disappointing when I saw what it actually was.
A few blocks up from the falls is the tourist area which is like a boardwalk. They have arcades, fun houses, a Ferris wheel (you can see the falls from the top), a Mario Kart style go kart course, mini golf, and every chain restaurant that you can imagine.

Thanks. Anything we should book beforehand or just wing it?
You literally walk under part of the falls. You get rain gear and walk on a deck under the falls. You can do it on both sides. It’s my favorite part of visiting there.
It’s a huge cheesy tourist trap but the Falls are so spectacular it is well worth the trip.
I would recommend staying at the Marriott or Hilton away from the main drag.
There are a lot of steak houses. But plenty of other types of food.
I would also recommend getting up early and walking down to the falls when nobody is there. The boat might be worth it if you have kids. But you can get within five feet of the water going over the ledge on the decks they have built so not really necessary.
The traffic at the border crossing can be murder. Arrive early. You can wait over an hour if you get there in the afternoon.
The thing to remember it is all part of one area that is walkable. So don’t get too hung up on this part vs that part. Or this place vs this place
Also, no reason to do any tours. Just walk around the trails. Its an amazing feat of nature. You won’tbe Disappointed
If you stay on the Canadian side, which was recommended to me Â

An early example of “triggering.” Back then it was a vaudeville routine, now its pseudoscience espoused by Millenials

Very easy. You MUST have an enhanced license or passport to get back and forth. A regular license will not work.
