positive legacy is winning 2 Super Bowls. His first draft in 2007 is a main reason they won SB42. Picking up Cruz and JPP led to SB46. Just like TC, it was time for a change, but Reese put in 23 mainly successful years with the Giants. Some like to re-write history.

I didn't say it was his greatest legacy. But let's not go overboard with the Reese accolades. He wrecked this team.
...we haven't had any problems for a long time. However, it would be nice if we could upgrade the position with someone who can have more impact in the Defense.

I am happy to just have a solid long snapper. Look around the league, there isn't many long snappers that contribute in other areas and DeOssie is great at getting downfield and making tackles as well
DeOssie has been very consistent for a very long time as a snapper but he has been one of the best for his ability to get down the field and make tackles. Carlock has the athletic ability to be even better and the rules have changed significantly over time where you don't need the girth which was usually required of the position as you can't line up directly over the snapper anymore.
DeOssie didn't even cover kickoffs in many years due to the importance of the long snapper and most other long snappers around the league are dedicated so unless we found another position player who can snap, that's all Carlock would do.
plenty of talent to go 11-5 in 2016. I still think it's been mostly coaching issues - and teamates have lost confidence in Eli - just my opinion.
I put the wrecked team more at Mara's feet. Whatever, keeping on crapping on Reese if it makes you feel better.
You can't be serious. Eli Apple and Erick Flowers drafted in the top 1/2 of Round 1 and that's a coaching issue? Doing your basic homework on these guys would have led them to be valued much later in the draft. Marc Ross was hired by Reese and he didn't even know the details of Apple and his family situation. You can argue that Mara let the scenario go on to long and made the wrong decision keeping Reese when Coughlin was let go, but Reese and Ross specifically left this team barren. The line of scrimmage was completely under invested in. How do you draft David Wilson in RD 1? That was such a terrible pick. Reese's school of thought was add playmakers and then for the line of scrimmage it was 2nd tier guys, late draft picks or FA's.
The day they picked David Wilson, with a clearly aging OL was the day I had enough of Reese and Ross.

The team was 42-54 from 2012-2017, with one playoff appearance. They were also in cap hell, thanks to a number of expensive free agent signings necessitated by the team's inability to draft quality players outside of the occasional early round success. That all falls squarely on the shoulders of the GM, along with the people he chose to help make personnel decisions, like Marc Ross. Reese left a huge mess behind when he was fired.
Back to ST's, its great to have improved ST's. However, need to be Â
careful not to stock guys who can play specials well, but can't play position football. We need every down type position players more than st'ers. Makes some cut down day choices tough, but there is a difference in those last few cuts, and good head coaches and their assistants recognize and choose the position player. I'd rather have the third ranked defense then the third ranked special teams.

agree with most of your post but without the injury Wilson was gonna be pretty darn good.
Disagree that Reese wrecked the team

They went 11-5 in 2016 mainly because Reese had to open the floodgates on salaries to fill all the defensive holes. And in retrospect, it looks like that 11-5 record was more due to a fantastic turnover ratio, which history has shown us is not often repeatable based on personnel.
We can both give credit to Reese for the role he played in the SB wins as well as look to him as a major reason behind the woes of the past decade. When you consistently miss on draft picks and have entire draft classes not contributing, it is really tough to point the finger elsewhere.
Here is my write-up from the scouting reports section:
The Giants signed Kenny Ladler to the Practice Squad in November 2018 and the 53-man roster in December 2018. He ended up playing in three games with no starts, accruing three tackles. The 6’1”, 200-pound Ladler was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Buffalo Bills after the 2014 NFL Draft. He has spent time with the Bills (2014-2015), Edmonton Eskimos (2016-2017), and Washington Redskins (2018). Ladler has played in 10 regular-season NFL games with no starts. Five of those games came with the Redskins in 2018 before the Redskins waived him in November.

Reserve safety.

He was an incredible story. He really doesn't get as much attention as he deserves.
