NFT: Random BBI ?: ironing a polyester flag to remove creases

FranknWeezer : 7/15/2019 11:53 am
Custom-order polyester flag came folded with heavy creasing in it. From what research I've done, some folks say to iron the flag (low heat setting), but that it's necessary to wet it first- one person suggested a water/vinegar mixture, even. But I'm not too excited about a vinegar smell.

Any advice as to how to remove the creases, and should I be worried about damaging the flag w/ a hot iron?

Thanks BBI.
Steam.

wet the flag with water. Don't use vinegar.

To iron it, place thin fabric over the flag and iron the fabric. The heat transfer will still straighten out the flag.

also, if you are in a humid environment, you can try just setting the flag up like normal outside. After a day or so, the wrinkles should be gone
Or drape it over the shower rod ...

If you need a new flag, Valley Forge does nice work.

Just hanging out for a few days should let gravity pull the creases out.
Thanks everyone

Thanks!! I've been looking for high quality flags that won't get shredded being on the boat. Just ordered 2.
