Lorenzo Carter adds 10-12 pounds to his frame

If you took one look at linebacker Lorenzo Carter during the Giants’ offseason program, it was easy to tell how much he’d bulked up since last season ended.

“About 10-12 pounds,” Carter said. “I’m just trying to get stronger. It’s a league full of big guys, and I have to get bigger if I want to stay in it.”

10-12 lbs of Rock solid muscle. If he doesn't pop for a test, expect big things from him this year.

That's my concern, though I believe it's possible to add muscle without losing significant speed.
10-12 pound of pure muscle for an already highly trained athlete
BlueHurricane : 7/16/2019 10:25 am : link
In about 6 months. It’s amazing that the NFL doesn’t have 50% of the league suspended for PED’s.
The other thing too
BigBlueDownTheShore : 7/16/2019 10:28 am : link
is that he'll probably lose it in training camp.

Football players have a hard time keeping muscle on once they start playing, and don't have enough time/energy to lift like they do in the off season.

You can easily had 2 lb per month at that age without PEDs or HGH.

Just take a look sometimes at the incredibly high thresholds you have to be over to fail a drug test. You almost have to be of alien blood to do it.

Really, what is beyond ignorant? I added 20 lbs in 26 weeks at age 26 without the advanced training techniques these guys have available to them while eating a normal diet, granted the quantity larger than normal.

10 to 12 lbs for an athlete of his caliber and age is not so hard to imagine.
two main issues

I've said it before on these threads, but the NFL let's its players pretty much use what is considered a beginner cycle and double of what any doctor will prescribe you.

That may be true, but it is not necessary to use PEDs to gain that much in 6 months.
Right section you experienced what is considered newbie gains.
Zeke's Alibi : 7/16/2019 11:06 am : link
These guys are way far from that. And I guarantee it wasn't 25 lbs of pure muscle. Gaining even a couple pounds of pure muscle a year in advanced athletes is the upper range for athletes specifically looking to add muscle.

Taking PEDs won't cause him to lose any speed or agility, unless he was on some bodybuilding type routine which is highly doubtful.

Yes, unless you never touched a weight before. And he gained 10-12 lbs of pure muscle. That is impossible without PEDs. And from the videos it looked like he did it in two months.

I just did a quick google search of a couple of places and as I said, 1-2 lbs per month is expected without PEDs.

These guys are just about at max natural testosterone period of their lives. But yeah if it was 2 months, then that would be suspect.

1-2 lbs of muscle a month for someone that has been lifting weights for years is ridiculous. There is a calculator out there that has been used to find out how much muscle you can have at frame measurements at wrist and ankle at relatively low body fats as has been measure through years of elite natural body building competitions. And these guys are even't guaranteed clean, just within a reasonable time of their competition.

Muscle memory has been proved to be a real thing as far as PEDs are concerned. When you have reached a certain musculature it has been proven that you can reach closer back there off the gear than if you never took them at all. Which brings up the issue that if you think PEDs are cheating than athletes who have ever taken them should be banned for life as it has given them a lifetime advantage.

Amusing random story...about 15 years ago me and a buddy were sitting at the bar in Yankee Doodles in Santa Monica, having a few beers and watching college football. Conversation turned to the quality of different LA strip clubs...and the guy sitting near us at the bar says he’s hopping a flight to Vegas in a couple hours, and we should join him for a night hitting the strip clubs there.

Didn’t recognize him at first due to long hair and beard, but realized it was the guy who played Lattimer in the Program. We chatted with him for a bit but declined the invite, as we had some event we’d committed to in LA that night. To this day, we regret not going, and seeing what sort of insanity would have resulted from rolling around Vegas with that guy for a night!

I mean what is the worst that can happen? Serving a 6-8 year stint for robbing a liquor store? You end up dead in the trunk of a car? Pssh at least I didn't say no to strip clubbing with fucking Latimer.
I don't think it's unrealistic, but it likely depends on the player
BSIMatt : 7/16/2019 11:52 am : link
if he had the room for growth, then it's entirely realistic. There is a hell of a lot of room for growth/weight gain in lower half..and if done right can actually make him faster/more explosive.
Let’s hope

Haha spot on. I mean, I don’t even remember what the event was we thought we couldn’t miss, but we whiffed on what would have been a legendary trip. I do remember we ended up at that dirty joint under the 10 Freeway overpass later that night (club lingerie maybe?), but it was a poor consolation prize

and I still wonder what would've happen.

One of the guys I worked with hung out with a few NFL players. He was in Arizona and worked out with Phillippi Sparks and a few other guys. We're in Vegas for a trade show and he asks if we wanted to go out that night. Now I know when he goes out, he's going to the club and dropping a ton of coin on bottle service and crap this old man can't hang with anymore. Plus, I was already lining up playing in a poker tourney.

Get to the booth the next day and no Wally. Finally shows up after lunch literally looking like he was hit by a bus. Puffy eyes. Still staggering. He ended up running into Junior Seau and they met up with a few other guys and head to a club. He says Seau paid for the group and had to have dropped about $5K minimum. Stayed out all night and said it was epic. Showed pics of the women they were with. Kicking myself because it would've been a blast and because I won't ever get that chance again.

It was..
FatMan in Charlotte : 7/16/2019 12:43 pm : link
a fun tourney. I made the final table with a guy who I knew but couldn't place - it had been bugging me all night. Then he started doing character voices and giving people funny looks and it was a character actor named Lenny Venito. He kept calling my Syracuse - because I was wearing a Cuse hat and telling me that he's heard people talk about hell before and it has to be better than Syracuse!

He was the life of the table. I couldn't ever tell if he was being funny or serious, but he was cranking out some funny stories. Someone said "Hey you were in Men in Black", and he said - "Yeah, but don't get any ideas about me and Will Smith. He went nowhere near my tight asshole!!"
