Lorenzo Carter adds 10-12 pounds to his frame

If you took one look at linebacker Lorenzo Carter during the Giants’ offseason program, it was easy to tell how much he’d bulked up since last season ended.

“About 10-12 pounds,” Carter said. “I’m just trying to get stronger. It’s a league full of big guys, and I have to get bigger if I want to stay in it.”

Back to the OP....it always cracks me up every offseason
Zeke's Alibi : 7/16/2019 2:45 pm : link
there are always 1 or 2 players that were a little undersized and get a write up so and so put on 15 lbs of pure muscle this offseason. And you got writers and fans pulling a James Cann in the Program "Yeh he's been really hitting the weights this offseason." Meanwhile dude is spazzing out kicking iron and screaming.
If you add 10 to 12 lbs in a short period
madgiantscow009 : 7/16/2019 3:28 pm : link
of time and are not new at lifting then you shouldn't be announcing it. Shhhh...young Carter.
I added 10 - 12 pounds

when I was around 35, no one got excited about it.

assholes.
more weight usually means less speed.

In about 6 months. It’s amazing that the NFL doesn’t have 50% of the league suspended for PED’s.

You can easily had 2 lb per month at that age without PEDs or HGH.

No doubt. An average male can put 8-10 lbs of muscle on in a year with proper nutrition and workouts. For a young physical specimen like NFL players who have access to the best training staff, facilities and nutritionists, not to mention the specified scientific analysis of each player these days, I don't think what Carter has done is outrageous or because of PED's.

Seriously, is that even possible for someone to do naturally? I get that NFL players have access to the best training/food regiments, but even still...

Not unless there was specif slow twitch type training, which an NFLer wouldn't be engaging in. More muscle less speed is a myth. More muscle often means more explosive tissue meaning more speed. It is about muscle fat ratios which is the advantage of PEDs. Pure muscle is going to mean at the very least no reduction in speed.
I know it is counterintuitive, but because you added 10
Zeke's Alibi : 7/16/2019 4:25 pm : link
lbs of "muscle" in a short amount of time at an older age, does not mean a guy who has been training for years that is 6 5 250 can. Go luck at the two videos on Giants.com from Feb to April. That isn't possible naturally.

I'm actually excited, he clearly is a good responder and won't have the issue that Floyd has putting on weight. Believe it or not people respond differently to PEDs. Carter looks like an NFL LBer now, add his strength to his impressive speed/acc and I expect really big things from him this year! I'm honestly thinking we have a breakout star on our hands. This is exactly what DG hoped for when he drafted him.

10-12 lbs of pure muscle in six months isn't possible, unless you're young, diet is perfect, and you've never trained before.

and I still wonder what would've happen.

One of the guys I worked with hung out with a few NFL players. He was in Arizona and worked out with Phillippi Sparks and a few other guys. We're in Vegas for a trade show and he asks if we wanted to go out that night. Now I know when he goes out, he's going to the club and dropping a ton of coin on bottle service and crap this old man can't hang with anymore. Plus, I was already lining up playing in a poker tourney.

Get to the booth the next day and no Wally. Finally shows up after lunch literally looking like he was hit by a bus. Puffy eyes. Still staggering. He ended up running into Junior Seau and they met up with a few other guys and head to a club. He says Seau paid for the group and had to have dropped about $5K minimum. Stayed out all night and said it was epic. Showed pics of the women they were with. Kicking myself because it would've been a blast and because I won't ever get that chance again.

And guess what FMiC? Junior Seau missed half a lifetime of missed opportunities because of choices he made and the way he balled as a young man...

Who carried regrets straight to the grave?
I saw a video of him and Brandon London the day
JoeyBigBlue : 7/16/2019 9:14 pm : link
London was an ex Giants receiver turned Giants.com reporter, and he’s a legit 6-4. Carter towered over London by like 2 inches. I was shocked how big Carter was. I had no idea he was that tall. Seems like 10 pounds of muscle will fit nicely on his frame.

Yeh that was one of the vids I was talking about. I'm like this dude is taller than Hernandez and Carter is taller than this guy by a couple inches.

Lol, don't take this the wrong way, but that is beyond ignorant.
you don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about. When I graduated from college I was about 190lbs and I got a job offer. It didn't start for 9 months so all I did was eat and exercise. I went back to school a few times for weekend jaunts and was immediately accused of juicing. I did nothing of the sort, and in fact did use Sustenon for 12 weeks 2 years prior and it didn't have anywhere near the impact of what happens as the male body matures. I went from a wiry 190 to a bulked up 215 in 9 months. You hit an adult growth spurt in your early to late teens and 20s and you fill out. I was far far bigger just focusing on the diet and exercise strictly for 9 months. Just because a 20 something suddenly adds 10-12 lbs is literally nothing. If he was 28-30 sure I would wonder, but males thicken and fill out at that age and if you are working your ass off you can get much bigger much quicker. You can paint it how you choose but it's absolutely possible and I was proof and I wasn't in an NFL weight program. It sounds like you either got too big on peds or they didn't work for you, this jilted lover thing just reeks of sour grapes.

Zeke's Alibi : 7/17/2019 2:21 am : link
sure you put on 25 lbs but no way it was pure muscle unless you have never trained before, it is against everything we know scientifically. Unless you are like 7 4 with an above average frame. Reminds of the typical gym guy that walks around 200 lbs and 10 percent body fat when in reality its 15-18. The reason I make a point of this is because the ignorance is astounding. And a lot of it comes from people's own anecdotal "evidence" (which in my experience is complete garbage and people have an unrealistic view of themselves).

Link below is sourced to lots of guys that actually know what the fuck they are talking about.

There are very clear indicators he cycled something between February and April. And from what he looks like it looks like something as simple as a real basic cycle, which would still keep him under the NFL testing guidelines.

Oh and lol trust me I don't worry about what I look like. I've heard everything from male model (back in the days when I could run a lot more) to Julian Edelman just a few weeks ago as I live on the beach in Tampa Bay. So yeah I actually know what the fuck I am talking about.
Maybe I'll post a pic If I figure out how to blur my face.

Oh and age has nothing To do with it....it is training experience
Zeke's Alibi : 7/17/2019 2:37 am : link
that counts. So unless you are trying to tell me a guy who came in the league 6 5 250 playing lber at a major college didn't lift it isn't possible. It wouldn't even matter if he didn't because a lot of the sprint training and practice itself would create the environment that mimics what we consider weight training experience. Testosterone doesn't even start dropping off until age 30 approximately.
Why does everyone get excited about how much a rookie can improve

His body and performance between his first and second year once he is on an NFL training program, but then accuse him of cheating once he does it?
Given how important he is to the D

Carter is under a professional group now.
TMS : 7/17/2019 3:24 pm : link
Who knows how much this type of diet and training will produce in this type of environment. His strengths appeared to be his athleticism and speed before. Do not see us compromising that just for bulk .

UGA's training program is on a pro-level, I can guarantee that. And steroids aren't cheating in the NFL. I put them in the same boat as training principles, some or going to give you better results than others and it is about learning which ones do that for the particular athlete.
Posting your anecdotal weight gains
widmerseyebrow : 7/17/2019 6:51 pm : link
is apples and oranges. Carter trained at UGA and then the Giants the last 4 years. He's not some working stiff that just decided to start working out a few months ago.
More than one scouting report on Carter noted
BlueLou'sBack : 7/17/2019 6:54 pm : link
that he wouldn't reach his full potential in the NFL until he added some bulk to fill out his frame, and one specifically mentioned he "needed to bulk up" in his lower half, that his legs/butt were too thin and wiry.

Well if he's picked up any training tips from Saquon, he can probably add "bulk" that gives him more power and speed and explosiveness in his lower half, but what you see in the pictures is a larger torso and arms.

Generally, the talk among scouting reports was that he was a bit under-powered for the NFL edge game, but his frame had more than enough space for him to correct that.

Hopefully that's exactly what he's done.

He cam in as a top tier athlete but not yet top tier FB player. Would be nice to see him reach his full potential. When did any Giant last do that? Victor Cruz? JPP briefly?
Linval Joseph, but in another uniform?
10-12...
Brown_Hornet : 7/18/2019 10:19 am : link
...can be attained without PEDs.

Stop pretending that you're an expert.

FFS, nowhere in his interview did he say "pure muscle" anyway.

I would suggest that "expert analysis" requires a bit more than a guy claiming, off the cuff, that he has gained 10-12lbs.

I've looked at the pics from Feb to April and he has clear gear usage
Zeke's Alibi : 7/18/2019 10:34 am : link
markers. He clearly gained 10 lbs of pure muscle. His rear delts are fucking huge. I am an expert when it comes to this so that theory is moot. People claiming advanced athletes can gain 10lbs of muscle is pure ignorance. People actually believe this because the bodybuilding/powerlifting/fitness models/YouTubers have a financial incentive to push their supplements that work at best on a marginal level. I've known a few marginal NFL guys and they usually favor orals they clear very fast and the timetable makes sense with testing April 20th. And who knows with the SARMs game now. The NFL also let's these guys use test. The levels are insane and they don't test the ratios which are a dead giveaway even on low dose test that keeps their ranges normal.

Wrong. My weight fluctuates 10-12 lbs. per month. A pro athlete? Easily done without PEDs.

Very true. 10-12 lbs gained in that time period is either fat or _____. No doubt about it.

With Carter and Golden being replacments of JPP and OV with a different Scheme.I saw Carter with good containment from keeping running off the edge his main problem was breaking off blocks for the pass rush. Hopefully he studies Mack as he builks up like him to be a real beast
