I think we're finally going to do it.
My question is, as far as the streaming services (DirecTV Now, Sling, Fubo, Youtube, whatever else may exist in the world), which ones have options to add MSG and YES??
Any other general advice as far as doing this is welcomed.
YES is available through a number of services, such as HULU and YouTube.
(which I have no personal experience with)
has MSG and MSG+ too.

You do not get the games on Yes.
Playstation Vue and Sling have NFL Redzone.
Get all new york locals any and yes
No msg though
Isn't it geo-based, which can be circumvented?
My bad if no. I don't watch many Yankees games, but I thought so through my brother who does.
I have basic cable because they gave me a deal for basic cable plus phone plus internet for less than internet only.
Honestly, there's way more sports on YouTube TV than I want but that tells you something about what makes people want a live service. News & sports, local channels -- otherwise, you can mainly get by with Netflix/Amazon/Hulu/Vudu...

Do you use a VPN to access NY locals?

Most of them ask you to enter a zip code, and it will give you the service in that zip code.
The downfalls to this, is that you won't get your local news, you'll get NY news.
I spent about 40 minutes on the phone with retention last night. I gave up a bunch of channels, but ended at a package that still kept all of the basics plus HBO, and saved myself $65/month. So, I gave up a little, and they gave up a little. It felt like an OK compromise without any significant hassle of changing things.
All in, I'm going to be right around $165 for internet + cable (+ optimum voice, but we don't use a house line).
I was in a tough spot, because Optimum is the only broadband available in my neighborhood (no FIOS). So they were getting ~$100 from me for internet by hook or by crook, and they knew it.
Add in the DirecTV package that we wanted and we were quickly just over $150. $15/month is something, but I also would have needed to invest in some Roku sticks or AppleTVs or what-have-you, so it felt like we got close enough to stay.
I do appreciate everyone's input.
I'll leave this up for the benefit of any others who could use similar advice, but I'm also happy to delete if that'd be more appropriate.
If you don't mind me asking, how will you get Sunday Ticket if you left DirecTV? I'd had enough and quit them a few months ago, and live out of market as well for the Giants. Thanks in advance!
