Joe Harvey could also be an option - he's pitched really well in Scranton lately and is on 3 days rest after pitching an inning on the 15th.
Either way - I think it's got to be a pitcher. The Yanks haven't even decided who's going to start the second game because it'll be so reliant on who we need to use in the first one.
But, I'd guess Boone will try to avoid Greenie and Nestor in Game 1 and try to go with those guys and hope he gets through 4-5... then you'll get some David Hale. See who's leftover after that.
explaining that there was a Yankees game about to start.
I grabbed my laptop, got out on their balcony overlooking the beautiful Atlantic, thinking, "ahhh, this is gonna be the life - Yankee baseball, the Ocean and, oh no, rain delay!
What are the chances that we actually do see some action?
I guess I can just dig the Ocean but it did seem like there was a chance for a perfect parlay.
no idea, but he does a great job of grabbing awesome video/audio and is a prime lip-reader. His voice-over narrations of them are spot-on. I just discovered him a month or two ago and he's now one of my favorite Twitter follows.
I've seen more balls called strikes against Aaron Judge in the last couple of years than I've seen almost any other hitter combined in my lifetime.
Some of the pitches these umpires think qualify as strikes on him just fucking baffle me. I get that he's taller and just bigger than most other hitters, but give me a fucking break.
He gets AB's tilted against him almost every game because of that shit. It's infuriating. Good for Boone for getting out there early and letting 'em hear it.
Judge gets more balls out of the strike zone called against him than anyone in baseball. Fangraphs studied it using Statcast data and that's what they found.
They just keep coming at ya and there really isn't a soft spot there where a pitcher can relax. Luke and Gio coming through with two down to tack some on. Clutch.
I have no idea why these umps don't adjust their stike zone for Judge. You'd think it would just be common sense when a guy is that tall and we're not talking Little League umps here. These guys are pros and supposed to be the best there is.
One of these times Judge should scoop up some dirt Â

Absolutely fucking crazy. They just don't adjust to him at all. This shouldn't be rocket science yet, here we are... with Judge being cost AB's what feels like several times a week by terrible calls.
Half of them aren't even borderline. They're just bad.

Yup and that's exactly my point. It's not rocket science and shouldn't be a major deal to figure this out for professional umps. It's almost as if they feel it's their strike zone and he needs to adjust to them.
Problem is, people don't pay to watch those fuckers. They pay to watch stars like Judge, and for a guy like him to be screwed over so often is absurd.
Meanwhile two defensive gems to close out that inning. First Gio and then DJ. It's always a treat to see great defensive plays.
I don't know what it's going to take until someone in the organization says something.
They have already sent videos to MLB about Judge and the different strikezone he faces. About the only thing that could be done now is for Boone to get thrown out every time Judge gets screwed over cause Judge isn't going to argue. The media interest in it would make it a story and put some pressure on the umpires cause then everyone would be watching how they handle his abs. At least in theory.
call time, whatever but they can't let Morton just pitch at his quick pace. Do whatever you can to throw this guy off and not just let him get the ball and throw. He settles into a nice groove and is even tougher.
I've already seen two online, actually. One that is just "savages in the box", one that has the entire rant.
If you stop and really ponder this season, it's astonishing. 62-33 despite:
*Severino and Betances missing the entire season thus far
*Montgomery still out
*Stanton playing all of 9 games
*Mike Tauchman playing more games (44) than Judge (40)
*Hicks playing only 45 games
*Didi playing only 26 games

Easily the deepest team in the league and most talented from top to bottom. But, playoffs are a different story, I pray Severino comes back healthy and Cash makes a splash.
I shall now enjoy the Rays postgame wrap-up like a fine Kentucky bourbon.
It’s brutal. This moron on the Rays postgame just talked about how the Yankees just beat you with homers and walks. Did he even watch the last two fucking games?

Such a fucking pathetic franchise full of losers.
In the 8th inning, the Rays announcers selected Gardner being thrown out at 3B as the play of the game. They said, “even if the Rays don’t come back and win, they have really shown the Yankees something this series: they do not back down.”

Well then The Yanks must have hit a lot of HR's and walked a ton vs. the Rays this year because we've beaten them from pillar to post all season.
RE: Sounds like the Rays' media is just as bad as when I lived in Florida Â

Imagine in the wild card game, they’re down like 7-0 and Meadows hits a solo shot in the ninth. The announcers will be like well they certainly made it tough on them

The Rays are a very weird franchise. They have no real fanbase. They barely draw 5,000 people and there are times when there might be under 2,000 people in their stadium. Their stadium is a total dump and an embarrassment for MLB. They are the third most popular team in the Tampa area behind the Yankees and Red Sox. Hell, they might even be 4th behind the Mets. Things have gotten so embarrassing they want to split their games in Montreal which is a precursor to just moving there.
Their fans(the few) have become bitter and angry. You would think their media would be apathetic but they actually have become the worst homers in MLB with an almost cult like ability to spin everything into a positive and bitterness toward every other team in baseball cause they have fans. They are all in total denial that the franchise is probably moving to Canada. Their twitter account is run by a 16 year old who mocks Yankees stadium for having rainouts. Cause they should totally play in a falling down parking lot with a circus tent overhead like the Rays. It is sad, but this franchise needs to leave Tampa and restart in Montreal.
Woke up and listened to the latest r2c2 with Didi and Hicks which was really funny in itself as CC is calling Gardner ‘that little f***er’ and then to see the video with Gardner beating on the roof of the dugout, Hicks trying not to laugh, and Boone getting tossed. Still laughing.

The team is on the verge of competing for a title. Not this year, but certainly in the next couple. Wait and see how that bandwagon fills up like it did for the Washington Capitals a few years ago.
Classic actually and will go down in Yankee lore forever.
I hope he keeps losing it when needed especially with guys like West and Hernandez. They can't be screwing Judge as much as he is getting screwed and if Boone needs to get tossed for it so be it.
so Boone goes off on that rookie ump. It had a little
Billy Martin in there, I kind of enjoyed it myself.
I think he will get fined, possibly suspended for a game.
It's not because he got thrown out, as much as the profanity. Good to see a sweep though, made Morton work
in that 6th inning. He lost his curveball command, and it
was all over for him!
yeah he's done a really good job this year especially Â
That was just a home run by Boone yesterday... incredible. I'm still fired up.
This team just feels special right now. Hopefully a great 2019 story is being written as we speak. What a fun team to watch.
Luke and Gary showed some signs of life - hopefully they're going to wake back up here.
NYY are 8-0 in games started by Chad Green. Ryne who?
Love the Cortes piggyback, too. It keeps working wonderfully. And Nestor didn't even have his best stuff yesterday.
Credit to Cessa as well. He's a guy I said I'd have just DFA'd if we needed a roster spot even without options because I felt he was easily replaceable - but he pitched really well last night. He definitely has a role here if he can keep that up.
David Hale has been a really nice surprise. You can see Boone trusts him more and more - he's moving up in the pecking order.
I don't think Tampa is going to catch us at this point; but I want to keep the foot on the gas now. Get this lead to 10.
"Savages in that box!" will absolutely go down in Yankee lore, much like "We play today, we win today, das it" from Mariano Duncan in '96. I don't think it necessarily fired up the players to win that particular game, but you can tell they're embracing the "savages" label.

Only one more request: we take two today
Just turned on the TV here at work with the volume off (TB in-market) and I'm seeing some Rays highlights with "weather delay" across the bottom.
Hopefully they can get some ball in...
