Has been done with the Lion King. Even watched Lion King 2 a few times. Been to broadway. And watch Lion Guard with my daughters.
I’ll see the movie eventuarlly and fuck the critics.
I've watched all those with my kids, but will one up you with Lion King 1 1/2 lol. It's real.
Lion King 1-2 and 1.5 - The musical on Broadway and in Atlanta. Huge fan - but not running out to see the movie. Tough to make a real lion swing on a vine and jump in water - cant see the magic with "live action"

The live action Beauty and the Beast remake made $1.2 Billion worldwide. Jungle Book made just shy of $1 Billion. Aladdin is just shy of $1 Billion. Dumbo has made more than $350 Million and is still playing worldwide.
I think Disney knows what they're doing...

My wife and I just saw it sans kids last night. We thought it was fantastic and so did the rest of this mostly adult audience based on their applause. It was basically the same story with the same music as the original, but with much better effects and sound. Scar and the hyenas were more menacing this time around. There were intense and dark scenes in this movie just as there were intense scenes in the original and every Disney movie going back to Bambi. We could hear one of the few kids in the audience crying when Musafa was killed. I think that anyone who liked the original is going to like this one.

I don’t mind these remakes now that I have young kids - dumbo with Keaton and devito directed by Tim Burton was very enjoyable
