I sometimes get an egg, bacon and cheese at the local bagel shop. The guy always asks me if I want ketchup on it and I always say no but this morning he apparently put it on anyway. Is ketchup on eggs a thing that I just was not brought up with or some communist thing like ketchup on hot dogs.?
Please don’t ban me for politics.
My sister in laws kids put mayonnaise and ketchup on their dogs. They also mix the concoction for a fries dip.
When I used to get a pork roll, egg, and cheese, on a hard roll they always put ketchup on it as the standard way it was made. Matter of fact I think that it how I first came to like the taste, they just served it that way.

Damn dude - this thread was making me a little hungry. You just extinguished that in short order! Haha.
Hahahha sorry dude

True when I think of a number of my wife’s friends.
LOL. Hell that goes for me with MY friends quite often,
or I might not have any.... ;-o
Not.
I think ketchup ruins eggs and hot dogs.

Straight on eggs, I agree. But if you have am egg sandwich with a salty type of meat and some cheese it's not bad because you get that savory sweet thing going.
yeah, and if they're making more than $8 an hour, I'd be double pissed

Mrs Big Al often laughs at me for the strange combinations of food I eat. A day back she brought me home a beef patty from a Caribbean place. I looked in the fridge and found some macaroni salad to have with it. She gave me a dismayed look but later ate hers with it.
Haha. It's not you, Al... there have just been countless BBI threads over the years where you're basically a terrorist if you put ketchup on a hot dog according to a few of our posters. Always amusing.
And if you put ketchup on it and call it a sandwich, you're a Nazi terrorist

Mayo and ketchup mixed is basically called Fry sauce in Utah. It's basically Russian dressing. We mix it for the grandkids for turkey and for some reason I don't recall, call it dippit

Actually it is 'French Dressing'. If you want Russian add relish. (8>
Actually, it's not Russian nor French. Both have a base of mayo and ketchup. Russian, as you say, usually includes relish. French includes sugar and vinegar plus various other ingredients. So I'll leave mayo and ketchup as dippit, as I'm sure one of the grandkids named it :)
Also it’s a fried egg on the sandwich unless you ask otherwise. And having purchased breakfast sandwiches from many locales I can say only a small percentage would understand if you asked for something different.
On a BEC bagel putting ketchup on it is criminal.

It seems heretical, although I guess once you've put bacon on a bagel, along with cheese, you've broken so many unwritten rules and traditions you might as well just throw ketchup on it too.
I once made Pork Roll Matzoh Brei. Was delicious but the guilt was palpable.

On a kaiser roll I can see it, but on a bagel?

ROTFLMAO...
I'm a food bargain hunter, and I often shop at a funky supermarket chain called Grocery Outlet, that rolls through excess lot productions and items approaching their sell by date when the big boys won't take those items any longer.
I can't help but look at every item that's a steal of a price, and just the other day my eyes were drawn to 3 packs of real imported Italian Prosciutto, thinly sliced 3 oz packets, all 3 for $4. Four bucks for over half a pound of real Italian Prosciutto conveniently vacuum packed thinly sliced in 3 x 3 oz packets.
Man that was hard to pass up...
They happened to have "Fontina" as well, although domestic and not imported. Still pretty much the perfect cheese for that sandwich.
Ketchup on coffee? WTF?
I got shit for posting a photo of a great burger I made (on a food forum) with a bottle of Hunt's ketchup alongside it. Hunt's is good ketchup, too but years ago when I compared it seemed Heinz's was more vinegary. I think they are closer in taste to one another now, but haven't bothered to test it. I buy whatever is on sale at the time my current bottle is nearing empty.
HFCS is definitely pretty bad for you. In fact it’s just as bad as cane sugar.
When the brand of ketchup comes up it always reminds me of the scene from Vacation.

from Pittsburgh gave me a bunch of shit for having Hunt's Ketchup and not Heinz (it's what the bodega on the corner sells.) I honestly don't taste any difference.

I prefer Heinz over Hunts, but this stuff, while more expensive, has been winning me over lately - especially with eggs.
+1 .... or any kind of hot sauce.
