"Sport" is defined as the team's share of league-wide money, while "market" includes local money. I assume this includes local tv money, as I don't know what else would explain the big disparity in these two categories. The Nets actually have a bigger "market" value in the Forbes valuations than the Giant, which wouldn't make any sense unless it included their tv contract.
Stadium
Giants - $549MM
Knicks - $995MM
Brand
Giants - $292MM
Knicks - $563MM
FWIW, the revenue and operating income they list for the two teams are quite close, but the Giants have a lot more debt.
because no effin way the Cowboys are worth more than the Yankees. You see Yankees hats all around the world, literally. You don't see Cowboy stuff in Europe, Middle East or Asia - but you see a lot Yankees stuff.

I'm sure it's all properly licensed apparel.
That is a good point, even if you do see it in legit stores. But I still don't buy the Cowboys worth more than the Yankees except for AT&T Stadium which probably half of their value.

Yeh its always hilarious to see people wearing Yankees hats that wouldn't know a ball from a strike.

You are probably right about the stadium, but wrong about the merchandising.
Last year I traveled to Kazakhstan and had layovers in Amsterdam and Moscow. My wife(who hates football) pointed out the apparel(she recognizes the star). While in Kazakhstan we saw more Dallas gear, where it became a running joke during the trip.
I did see Yankee merchandise, but you would have been floored by the number of people wearing Dallas merchandise.
Yeh people view Cowboys gear and Yankees shit as Americana Â

Bah, effin Russians. Rarely see Dallas crap outside of the US. See Yankee stuff all over and lots of it.

Go away Cowboys fan. Your story is not being bought by anyone here... especially the ones that have traveled significantly abroad.
Nice try though.
Will somebody please convince the Wilpons to sell Â

Kazakhstan? Next you'll claim Central America loves the Patriots.
Yankees gear is all over Europe, not to mention the huge popularity of the team in Japan.
I've seen a ton of Yankees stuff when traveling abroad. And it is usually hats with different colors and stuff. The only time I remember seeing any Cowboys apparel overseas was in Venice. And it was an American guy wearing it.
Could be wrong but if it includes MSG vs. Metlife it makes sense.
in the planet called reality
MSG and MSG Network too.
Well, for one thing, until very recently they had the entire city to themselves, something that wasn't the case for any of the other NYC teams.
Mediocre is very generous.

General rule of thumb, a business is worth 20x your annual net, so Cowgirls are worth almost 8 billion.

include MSG, which is in Manhattan.
MSG and MSG Network too.
The network has been a separate company for years. Hard to imagine that's part fo the NYK valuation.
LOL.
My take is the Knicks high value is due to their location.
Rangers would be there BUT no hockey team is actually there.
