#Redskins LT Trent Williams is not expected to report to training camp with the rest of his teammates this week, sources tell me and @RapSheet. He didn't show for minicamp in June and it could be quite a while before he's back with the team.

Sources: Trent Williams not expected to report to training camp this week - ( New Window )
They are saying it is contract related

But I think it has more to do with trust. I remember reading something earlier that the Redskins fucked with his medicals somehow and he's pissed.
This would be great if it carries over into the season

or it results in his departure. They already have Ereck Flowers listed as their starting LG.
There is tension there
Sneakers O'toole : 7/22/2019 3:47 pm : link
beyond contracts. I remember the same thing.

This is correct. He's pissed about the doctors with the Skins. He's been quoted as saying the trust between him and the team is dead and he wants to be traded. It's not money related.

I recall that as well. However, might a boatload of cash change his mind?
The skins would be wise

to start Keenum this season.
medical issue
ep in md : 7/22/2019 6:16 pm : link
They apparently misdiagnosed skin cancer. According to some local DC reporters the Redskins have the worst, or nearly the worst, medical team in the NFL and this has been an ongoing issue for some time.
clarification
ep in md : 7/22/2019 6:18 pm : link
Missed a diagnosis of skin cancer (not a false positive).

You are correct with regards to his medicals. But it is a bit naive to think that it is not money related, also. He has 2 years remaining with no guaranteed money left on his deal. Those final 2 years pay him below his market rate. He'll make $11M for 2019 and $12.5M for 2020 in salary. If he was a FA, he would eclipse what Trenton Brown signed for (avg. salary of $16.5M). The key component is all about the guaranteed money. Brown received his first 2 years guaranteed at $36M. Trent Williams would easily get $40M guaranteed.
At that OL Brain summit meeting...

some players mentioned Trent Williams as being one of the most respected LTs in all football, so far as technique and how he plays the position is concerned.

So yeah, good news for all the NFC east rivals of the Skins.

As far as his contract is concerned, I wonder how he feels being paid less than Landon Collins?

I wonder what he'd fetch on open market.

Guy has missed a ton of games.

Let’s be honest. Money talks.

Oh I agree. Money talks. But some of the local beat guys down here are saying he just plain wants out. And having no guaranteed money remaining gives him extra motivation to force their hand one way or another.
cp: Article states it was a misdiagnosed brain tumor that he had
idinkido : 7/23/2019 7:29 am : link
surgically removed. How can a brain tumor be missed on an MRI? Also, how did the tumor affect his health and are there any negative effects from its removal?
