Statcast can eat a dick. It seems hyper accurate at times and absoltely wrong at others. Remember the Judge blast in Seattle two years ago? Try the Garcia bomb in Tampa last week.

They can't blow up the pen on game one of this road trip. CC has to nut up, not let it get out of hand and at least get them through five.

Agreed that is what he should do but i'm not sure we can let him get bombed.

What is that? 24 bombs allowed for CC now?
The_Boss : 7/22/2019 9:38 pm : link
He might be done after 4 tonight. Unless we’re up 3-0 in an ALCS or World Series, I maintain he cannot be trusted. But at the same time, who really can be in this rotation as currently constructed? Cashman might have to go get another bullpen arm or 2 and try and pitch 8 guys every night in the playoffs.

I'm not giving up on this game but I don't want this one to cost us the next one too.

If we can inch back this inning great, if not he goes back out for the fifth and we cross our fingers it doesn't get worse.
we could use
RasputinPrime : 7/22/2019 9:43 pm : link
2 more starters (Sevy and...)
2 more BP arms (Betances and...)
Stanton to get healthy
Sanchez to stop swinging at everything

What an addition.

If Sevi and Betances come back we might be OK without another starter, but it would be nice to add another just to protect against an injury or CC's demise.
Yanks are probably going to come back and win tonight
The_Boss : 7/22/2019 9:48 pm : link
Which is great, but the starting rotation issues continue...
.
arcarsenal : 7/22/2019 9:51 pm : link
We have to add a starter regardless of Severino.

There's no possible way for us to know whether he'll be able to help us and to what degree in under 10 days - and that's all we have. Hard deadline this year - we can't acquire more help post 7/31.

I think a package for Bumgarner and Will Smith makes a lot of sense. But first, the Giants would need to deem themselves sellers - and they're like 14-3 this month so they may opt against selling.

I like Stroman, but I think I'd trust Bumgarner a lot more - and if we're going to trade Frazier, I'd rather send him to an NL team like SF than send him to a team in the ALE.
Twins about 6 or 7 dinkers for

What's with the Twins PA system?
Eman11 : 7/22/2019 10:11 pm : link
Seems like after every pitch they're blasting something. That would drive me crazy if I was in the park.

Plus what's the deal with the NY NY theme after every Yankee strikeout? Pretty lame, and seems like a bit of a dis imo.
Yanks get lucky TWICE there.

Yeah, heard the NY NY thing. It is lame. So don't strike out.

Haha, good point. Seems like that would work against the Twins so while lame, maybe it'll fuel the Bombers.

This team just keeps coming. 7-6 now. We need Cessa to hold the Twins down again and it just feels like the Yanks are gonna put up a crooked number before this one is done.

arcarsenal : 7/22/2019 10:22 pm : link
Tauchman is literally hitting about .500 this month and has an OPS around 1.500.

I know he's the only outfielder on the active roster that we can send to Scranton in order to activate Maybin... but the guy is crushing it right now and playing great baseball. That's a tough demotion.
i think the Yankees
Bill2 : 7/22/2019 10:22 pm : link
are getting career years from Maybin, Urshela, Tauchman because of their video based batting coaching and great prep work for the hitters on what to expect and the tendencies of the opposing pitchers.

I don't think its just random good years. I think they look for every edge

I'm not blaming Gary for a pitch that was supposed to be down and away and ended up middle-middle. Cessa makes mistakes with location ALL THE TIME. That's why he's JAG, when he has better stuff than that.
how is it that Luis Cessa still has a spot in this bullpen

it’s true, but he narrowly dodged a 3-run Schoop homer, as well. I’ve just got no faith anytime he’s in, and I can’t believe that they can’t do better.

Just a long strike. Happens a lot. Only matters if it is fair.

I have very little faith in CC and Happ, and Paxton ain't much better.

Twins with a lucky win.
Sanchez
Marty866b : 7/22/2019 11:40 pm : link
Is such an easy out right now and the last month has looked like the hitter we saw all of last year. Hopefully, he will hit his way out of this but I don't understand batting him in the middle of the lineup every game. DJ and Judge are constantly getting on and Sanchez is killing rallies. Is there something in the rules that says that Boone can't drop him in the lineup? Switching Gleyber with Sanchez until Sanchez snaps out of this slump has to be considered.

First three batters in line-up for Yanks -- LeMahieu, Judge and Encarnacion -- had 15 at bats and reached base 11 times. The next two batters --Sanchez and Hicks -- had 10 at bats and NEVER reached base!

That's a way to lose a game right there! Throw in a second lousy start (Sabathia) in a row against a good team and losing is practically a slam dunk!
Rough night
Carson53 : 7/23/2019 7:39 am : link
at the old ballyard, CC not good, El Gary even worse.
What a funk he is in (10-80), now affecting his defense...
3 catcher's interference calls in the last week or so.
He is up to 13 errors by the way, just saying.
Time to move him down in the order, let Voit move up.
He had a nice swing to the opposite field last night.
Hopefully they get a win with German going tonight.
Yankees
nygnyy274 : 7/23/2019 8:52 am : link
Wont win shit unless they get a prime time starter in the next week which seems unlikely. Sorry but we are not beating Houston putting Paxton and CC out there to throw batting practice. I don’t trust happ either against that line up. Last night CC faces a playoff team and gets pounded. Yankees are having a great year but there still cause for concern with this rotation and I do not see Scherzer or Bumgardner walking in the door anytime soon.
