I caught a decent amount of the interview while driving in to work.
He sounded very calm, confident. Obviously a “friendly interview” given it was with Papa and Diehl. I’m typing on my phone, so I’ll be brief.
He was asked about the secondary. Mentioned Bethea, Thomas and “Rabbit” as the vets. Still “... burping and changing ... “ the rookies and second year players.
He was asked about his approach to changing the team culture. Wanted “adults” in the locker room.
He talked about rookies and how the first thing the vets think when the rookies first arrive is “How will this player help us win?”, before the vets even begin to know them.
Papa asked how he responded to all the criticism given Gettleman’s resume. Gettleman talked about the great mentors he’s had, Accorsi, Shanahan etc and other he’s studied from afar including Walsh, Parcells and Belichick.
He summarized what he wanted of the players in one word, “Fearless” and reiterated “Adults”.
That’s all, off to work.
Others can add or correct as necessary.
thanks for the summation...
Now, a bunch of vicious professionals...
Are you saying the "children" don't like Gettleman?
grievous grownups?
Then, thank God for Accorsi.
Not the first time we can say that.
Now, a bunch of vicious professionals...
What he needs is a roster of....savages...

it's pretty damn clear Gettleman doesn't have this job. So mentor is a vast understatement.
Then, thank God for Accorsi.

Accorsi and his toupee should be donning gold jackets.
Why are you typing like that?

Why are we thanking Accorsi? Last time I checked his "GM Tree" isn't going to be confused with Bill Walsh's "Coaching Tree"...

He doesn't need a tree. DG is enough to warrant thanking God.

I always pictured you a secular football fan...

I watch on Sundays, religiously.
Nobody really is refuting what he says - they are just going after him for the fuck of it.
Again - by the way he was hired. Funny thing is - if Parcells hired Gettleman, bw would be calling him a God....
Conversely, Reese got too much credit just for getting lucky with draft picks. He never could repeat that success.
DG definitely was the right pick for his current job.
thanks for the summation...
Do you think perhaps he's trying to say the basic character of the man is solid, but in terms of executing NFL level technique and football IQ they're all very immature at the moment?

That is true. O'Hara, plax, pierce, uncle phill all played a huge part in that season. Plus the lb they got from kc whose name escapes me.
Presumably he had a large role in bringing those guys in.
Kinda funny that his pro personnel moves are are where he has currently stumbled.

Yeah, it's not really an effective way to satirize rash or unintelligent posts... no would who's either would go through all that wffort!
Don't bother, this guy is the Pollyanna's Pollyanna. Everything is amazing! The Giants are overflowing with All Pro talent now! Praise be to Dave Gettleman!
Pure shill, nothing more.
Not a rare thing...especially on this Board.

Bowl win. The offense and defense relied on veterans picked up in a variety of ways including free agents and veteran castoffs.

Kavika Mitchell was the KC LB

That's it.
Sam Madison is of course another key fa signing on that team.
