That's the amazing thing... there are so many regulars missing, and yet the lineup doesn't look bad at all. There's STILL really no one you look at and say "automatic out"
Sure, Higgy and Valera aren't going to scare their pitchers much... but everyone is finding ways to contribute and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Higgy hit a HR tonight or see Valera come through with a big hit.
Mike Tauchman is must see TV right now.
Also nice to see Gio back in there. Lets hope he can avoid driving more baseballs directly into his legs.
sent back to NY for further evaluation to see if he has a sports hernia.
I expect to hear the worst.
Maybe not. They didn't find one when he was evaluated Monday. My son was in a similar situation his Senior year of football. They found no sports hernia, and he was good as new after 2-3 weeks of taking it easy.

Even more so when you consider how poor the starting pitching has been.
I'm assuming Gleyber to IL is inevitable. I would have been really surprised to see him avoid that.
Sucks, but at this point, what really matters is that we get our key guys healthy and right. We have a little time still.
I have a feeling we're not going to see Stanton again this year... I think we can overcome that, though.
Guys like Torres are much harder to replace and we need one of the 1B's back. It's tough without both... but Jersey Mike Ford will suffice for now.
Sanchez should be starting his rehab assignment today or thereabouts, so he's close. I know we make a lot of jokes about Romine > Gary, etc...but Ro has really done a great job since Gary hit the IL.
Since July 24... when Sanchez was placed on the IL, here's Romine's triple slash:

I don't know why they didn't give him a MRI the first time around with the tests?? It seems like logical, duh?
I am sure this time he will get one, but still...
Adams is not a good pitcher, no idea why JP Feyereisen is not on the roster/shuttle ahead of him.
Estrada is a good ballplayer, the kid can flat out play.
No idea why Torres was hurried back into action immediately. As I've mentioned before with Didi and DJLM manning the middle infield the Yanks are fine. The issue now is taking DJLM off 1B, but it is what it is - Mike Ford step up time.
Tauchman is killing it, amazing.
Arc, I went to your twitter page, you are one good looking dude plus sporting that great hat... No worries my friend as I'm happily married to a Brazilian woman with legs above my shoulders...
He is playing through an injury cause the team needs him with so many walking wounded. They don't want to call up Frazier. Players don't get enough credit for that. Honestly I would always advise players to never play until they feel 100% cause the fans won't cut them any slack so why hurt themselves? But Judge is a different breed and will do anything to help the team even if he faces criticism despite him playing maybe at 75%.

Great point and 75% is probably being kind. Judge is definately playing through an injury.
MRI showed no sports hernia or strains for Gleyber. Â

Yep, Judge is one tough cookie (actually they all are). I do think that oblique is still a "thing." He just is not elevating the ball and he is missing pitches he should crush.

Injury updates: CC Sabathia is expected to throw a bullpen this weekend. Giancarlo Stanton has started throwing and hit off a tee.... he’s still running on ultra-G treadmill. Dellin Betances threw today (flat ground ... all fastballs) #yankees

I also read today that Sevi may start throwing from a bullpen mound this weekend, but Betances is not sure when he can do the same.
RE: MRI showed no sports hernia or strains for Gleyber. Â
Makes it kind of a weird situation, but good news I guess.
But is he still going on the IL, or no? Sounds like 10 days of rest wouldn't be a bad idea, and someone mentioned above that Estrada is up with the team.

Team needs him badly for the playoff run. I say shut him down now for two to three weeks, let it heal and not become a major issue.
Wow, I was very pleasantly surprised by the Gleyber news - I was really expecting at least a 10 day IL trip. Good stuff. I hope they go really easy with him anyway and don't push this. Whatever's going on - if it can be made worse by rushing him, hopefully they'll give him a break for a couple days. If we have to play with a short bench, a couple games, so be it.
Pax has been working his curveball in more lately - I think it's been a help and why he looked better against the Red Sox.
Hoping for more of the same here. He's going to mix the curve in with the cut and hopefully those secondaries get him some better results and he can continue being aggressive with his FB in the zone like we were seeing earlier in the season.
The O's may be playing some of the worst outfield defense I've ever seen... like.... ever.
I'm not a Boomer Esiason fan, but this morning he said they looked like Crash Test Dummies in the outfield and it made me laugh because he's right. They've got guys getting hit in the head by fly balls, getting leveled by the wall, missing pop ups, falling down... I really can't recall seeing an outfield play quite this poorly in a series in recent memory. Boy, are they bad...
Yeah, are the Yanks getting full credit for 1 game for these wins? Â

Paul Blair (8 Gold Gloves in CF for the O's) must be rolling in his grave.
Not just at the MLB level. From AA up they all are very well prepared and play smart baseball and most of all, have very solid approaches at the plate
Someone mentioned it either during the game or on MLB network Or MLB Radio I forget- That our system isn't necessarily filled with superstars in the making, but what they are is very well coached and prepared to contribute right away when they get here.
and I trust them.

Me too, which is even crazier.

Gleyber probably going on IL.
Yes, I would not be surprised if Higgy hits two tonight. He has good power.
So they are playing one two men short? Tarpley was sent down and Gleyber is in NYC for check up. Anybody know who came up for Tarpley?
Gleyber probably going on IL.
Or he is the replacement for Tarpley!

Hey, maybe it is just a slight strain. Sit him on his ass for 10 days. Bring Estrada or Wade up and let that heal.
I know I'm an old geezer, but sometimes my side bothers me after golf - feels like a pull. Goes away in a day or so.
(Also.. thanks, JP - lol)
