When Chad Green is on
adamg : 8/8/2019 9:09 pm : link
he locates that fastball.
Green psyched himself out
adamg : 8/8/2019 9:13 pm : link
Should have just walked him if he was going to pitch scared
Looks
mitch300 : 8/8/2019 9:17 pm : link
Like we drafted the wrong Bichette brother. LOL.

Cessa... 1.11 ERA over his last 9 appearances.

Not too shabby.

Let's hope for more of that.

He has great stuff. Maybe he's finally put it together.
Chris Sale with a dominant performance tonight
BigBlueShock : 8/8/2019 9:42 pm : link
If anyone wants to question how legit this offense is right now, they have made Chris Sale their bitch. This team is incredible
Judge has way too much
section125 : 8/8/2019 9:44 pm : link
upper cut in his swing. Looks off balance and off his back foot. It just does not look right.
Juiced ball season
RasputinPrime : 8/8/2019 9:45 pm : link
And we lose Stanton for virtually the season and Judge is waving trying not to further damage his oblique. Love the winning but I really hate not seeing our best at their best.

Maybin with two hustle doubles

and a single tonight. Not shabby.

Tauchman AGAIN

Ok, we get it. The balls are juiced. Can you stop being absolutely freakin obsessed with it? It’s getting annoying as hell

Maybin and Tauchman carrying the offense. Boone better get manager of the year in 2019.

Cessa gets the save

9 straight. what is that 37 over 500?
Yanks in charge
dune69 : 8/8/2019 10:16 pm : link
Go Yanks!!
Cessa is becoming a weapon out there.
section125 : 8/8/2019 10:17 pm : link
They had deep faith in him. Maybe it just took him a long time to learn to pitch.

Another win for NY/SWB.

37 it is!

The machine just keeps rolling... 12 more runs tonight. Bludgeoning the ever loving shit out of these ALE doormats and I'm loving every second of it.
Cessa has been sneaky good for us
RasputinPrime : 8/8/2019 10:17 pm : link
and we managed to avoid having to use any of our back-end arms.

Nice W.
since W's receive so little notariety nowadays

I hadn't noticed German's record. He is now 15-2 on the year. Subject to innings limits, he has a shot at 20 wins.

This is very important. If Cessa can do one of these per week or 10 days, it will save the big boys for when they are really needed.
you need 3.1 plate appearances (not ABs) per game your team has played
Del Shofner : 8/8/2019 10:48 pm : link
to qualify for the batting title. By my count, Urshela is just short of that right now and should get there (enough PAs) by the end of the season. At this pace, DJLM could win the AL batting title with Gio finishing second.

Just sayin'...
John Smoltz and Harold Reynolds are ripping the studio guy with them
adamg : 8/8/2019 10:54 pm : link
about position players pitching.

CHC and CIN had a particularly brutal position player pitching. Serving up meatballs that no one was hitting. Baez even took his AB lefty, it was such a joke. Smoltz had an aneurysm and was really pissed.

Tauchman on the postgame said he and Urshela
Del Shofner : 8/8/2019 11:03 pm : link
played together in Venezuela three years ago and Urshela was a hitting machine there, so he's not surprised.

She's no Meredith :)
They've put a lot of innings on the bullpen arms...
Dunedin81 : 8/9/2019 8:23 am : link
but they mentioned last night that no pitcher has thrown three straight days all season, which is crazy. Compare that with Flash Gordon's game log from 2004.

Grrrrrrr....still angry at Torre over how he treated Gordon
Greg from LI : 8/9/2019 9:13 am : link
Abuses the hell out of a 36 year old with a history of arm trouble then, when he predictably is running on fumes by the ALCS, implies in his book that Gordon was scared of the moment.

You can add Scott Proctor and Paul Quantrill to the list,
they rarely had anything left come October.

That pissed me off too. Torre should never have mentioned anything about Gordon's mental state. He was running on fumes. There was no reason to even comment on it.
Love Torre...

Yep. And it begs the question - if he was such a chicken, why did you keep throwing him every single game????

This is a guy who threw 89 innings in 80 games, again as a 36 year old who had a history of arm trouble. Yet, after he pitched in each of the first two games, Torre uses him with an eleven run lead in the ninth inning of game 3?
Rumor today
Beer Man : 8/9/2019 3:49 pm : link
Is that the Bosox may be willing to consider offers for Mookie during the off-season. The team has offered Mookie a 8-yr, $200M extension that Mookie turned down.
I love this team.
Dave in Hoboken : 8/9/2019 3:50 pm : link
Love watching them dominate the rest of MLB, too. It's so fun.
