Observations from camp - 8/6

Dave on the UWS : 8/8/2019 4:05 pm
I reasoned posting this since Sy and Gidie were there. (And I needed 2 days to dry off since we got soaked waiting for the bus back to the city)
Lawrence - he jumps around and acts like he’s 250. His size and agility are unreal. If he learns to harness it, he will be a MASSIVE load!
Zeitler- looking at him, I saw a guard. Some here thought he should play tackle. His body type says guard to me.
Peppers- I know he’s listed at 5’ 11, but he looked shorter than that to me.
Pup- he is a very BIG dude.
Hernandez- seeing him standing next to Solder it looked like Gandalf and a hobbit!. Incidentally, he cleaned up the garbage inside on run blocks consistently.

QBs - Eli - Same as always. His three throwing speeds are hard, harder and hardest. It’s why he’s never been a great thrower.
Lauletta - impressed me with increased arm strength, how he carried himself and how he executed. Much better than last year in camp.
Jones- he’s a throwback to the way guys used to play the position. Even in warmups, the other 3 rifles hard throws to a receive or coach 15 yards away, Jones would throw with a nice relaxed motion. Watching him run the offense, he throws whatever type of pass will get his target the ball in exactly the right spot at just the right moment. ALL of his passes are thrown with touch. Guys like Unitas and Montana played like that ( no I’m not comparing the talent level, just the way they gonna out things). He can power the ball if need be, but he doesn’t on most throws because it’s not needed. Enabling YAC is more important than showing off his arm. Thus any discussion about arm strength I don’t think is relevant.

Hope this was entertaining a little.
Thanks for posing

and from some of his college highlights, that D Jones has a smooth throwing motion and he looks like he can get it downfield with little effort.
at the 2:02 mark in this video

he throws it 50+ yards, with a fairly smooth throwing motion, doesnt seem to need to really step into it.

What I realize about Jones

Is he doesn’t power a ball in just to power it in. He throws as hard as he thinks he needs too.
Go deep - that

I'd disagree, he's definitely putting quite a bit into that one. The important thing is your right about how smooth his throwing motion looks. It is why he is able to maintain his deep ball accuracy without having a big arm. Guy is really underrated as an athlete.
Nice thread Dave
