First time bringing the family into the city all together with us and any recommendations would be awesome, kids of course love pizza and they’ve never had a New York City slice
Juniors diner is about as ny as it gets. Not the original location but great quality. My kids beg to go there every nyc trip. Might be a wait so get there early
That is the worst part of Manhattan, tourist trap hell. Venture to almost any other part of the city, I recommend you hit Patsys Pizzeria, 2 convenient locations. One of the great Pizzeria's of NYC. Link - ( New Window )

yeah patsy's is great. head to the upper west side, get some patsys for dinner, and reward the kiddies with some emack and bolio ice cream for dessert.
but if your kids have not ever been to NYC and/or if you don't live there, then you are tourists.
My kids absolutely were mesmerized by Times Square their first few times there. the lights, the crowds, the energy. We always go around Christmas too - head to Macy's/Herald square, Bryant Park, Rockefeller center, times square, Central park - no better place in the world around christmas time IMO than NYC.
Sure, people get older or used to it and don't want the hassle or want some more authentic NYC food or sites, but if you don't live in NYC IMO there is nothing wrong with doing tourist things.
I'm in NYC a few times a quarter (sometimes more) for business and sometimes I still stop in Times Square and people watch.
appreciate Jerryskids sentiment, but sometimes doing the tourist thing when you're a tourist is ok too.
is fine to take a quick look and chill for a little while, terrible place to eat. I also feel it is full of scammers and degenerates. Watch your wallets and kids.

agree 100%, it's just that times square is convenient some times and when you are lugging kids around sometimes convenience trumps all else, and Carmine's for being a tourist trap, has pretty good food, and I'm picky about my Italian food.
If you want some really great pizza, take a trip to the Upper West Side for some Mama's Too. It's a new-ish spot, it's a very small place, but it's some super baller pizza. Pretty easy to get to from Times Square (close to the 103rd St. stop on the 1 train...take the 2/3 two stops from Times Sq. to 96th St., transfer to the 1 for one stop). As others have said, Times Square is basically a tourist trap, and good pizza is hard to find around there.
If meat is OK for you, the soppresata and spicy honey square slice at Mama's Too is EPIC, but then again everything they do there is legit.

This is the place that stole the pizzaiolo from Prince St correct? I went to Prince St a month ago and wasn't that impressed actually. Good but not nearly the best. Still need to get to Joe's, John's of Bleeker, and Bleeker St Pizza one day.

My kids have never been and we got a Hotwire deal here which is why Times Square. Will hit some sights tomorrow and head home.
Btw - really dug the naked women painted up red white and blue with I love NY all over their ass cheeks taking pictures with tourist. Fantastic
