Yes, we all know it's only game one of preseason BUT, this was a good night.
1) no significant injuries. Hopefully Hillman is a minor concussion
2) great QB play all night. I don;t have the final numbers in front of me but the whole group was solid obviously with Jones being the most exciting
3) First two units of the OL were good. Not spectacular but a lot better than last year
4) DB play looked good. Ballentine could be a steal with where we drafted him (I'll let the PI penalty be debated elsewhere)
5) a couple WRs flashed a bit. We'll see
As has been stated, the pass rush is a concern but there was no blitzing and since we play the Jets later this year so the rush packages were pretty vanilla.
Overall a good, solid start to the 2019 season IMHO
-Connelly was all over the field, looks like he may end up starting or seeing significant playing time rotating with Tae Davis
-Ballentine seems like a player. Has a knack for taking the ball away so far in camp, and continues that tonight with a great INT. A great athlete with ball skills and suprisingly polished technique for a guy out of Washburn college
-Baker looked solid, Lawrence was tough inside as well commanding and taking on double teams
-Love and Ximines didn't do much, but Love did rebound in the 2nd half of the game and had a nice PBU
-Reggie White Jr made some nice plays, Russell as well had a big catch and was open deep for another big play if Tanney threw him the ball
-DL Slayton had a couple flashed, RJ McIntosh as well
-Jake Carlock looks like he could be a sleeper for the 53, nice INT and Sack...at the very least, he'll be on the PS
I was disappointed in the pass-rush. The Giants need Carter to break out in the worst way. If he can't be that lead dog in the pass-rush department, this defense will struggle to get pressure without blitzing and that makes life very tough on the young secondary.
He did draw a double team at least once.

Saw the same thing. Plays way too high. I thought Olsen Pierre held the poa nicely. Didn’t give up much ground. Dexter took on double teams non stop the one time he was 1 on 1 he pushed the guard right into the qbs lap
