Kyler Murray

mdthedream : 8/9/2019 7:23 am
Watched him play the one thing you can see is he is very athletic and the kid can throw the ball. He looks like a number one pick to me. Jones looks the part and Haskins looks lost and after that interview I would be very worried if I was a Redskins Fan.
What

There

Cmon dude do better
He was chewing gum

and he really didn't want to answer the questions. He looked very uninterested and pissed. I tried finding the after game interview I couldn't find it.
Seems

like the video on the Redskins website won't run

No one is more anti-Haskins than me...
bw in dc : 8/9/2019 7:51 am : link
but the interview wasn’t that bad.

He was obviously irritated with his poor performance and just wanted to get through the Q&A as quickly as possible.
Murray looked good
ZogZerg : 8/9/2019 7:51 am : link
Although he didn't go down field with the ball and had some open guys (easy throws), but he showed a strong arm and did a great job after starting on the 2 yard line.
BW
mdthedream : 8/9/2019 7:53 am : link
understand but for a rookie that was to me not a good sign. He needs to handle it better than that.
Haskins definately struggled some
ZogZerg : 8/9/2019 7:53 am : link
But he had some good plays and needs coaching.
I would be annoyed if the Giants drafted drafted him and he looked like that last night.

you can tell Kyle has a very accurate strong arm. Seeing he is a star baseball player as well I think helped his arm be very accurate and strong. He might be short but I don't think it will be a problem. Now the Oline might be a issue.
This play caught my eye

Great arm, exceptional athletic play, good eyes downfield under pressure to find the open man.

He's also incredibly tiny.
Murray..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/9/2019 8:22 am : link
looked impressive.

Unfortunately the drive he played in stalled because of a phantom OL hold.

Point of emphasis and all...

In that offense in today's league, I don't feel like height is the major issue it was in the past. Things aren't as bunched at the LOS as they used to be. A concern, yes, but a dealbreaker no.
I agree, and I'm not a height guy
Ten Ton Hammer : 8/9/2019 8:26 am : link
but it even made me think twice when I saw him run out of the tunnel with his teammates. He looks like a child playing with grown men.

Great to see the mature professional QB in the making.
Yes
mdthedream : 8/9/2019 8:38 am : link
but seeing your a rookie that is not how its done. The fans will chew you up if he keeps that up.
He

looks like someone that is used to having it his way when you interview like that.

That approach would have had NY reporters in shark attack mode. Blood in the water for most reporters.

DG picked the right guy.
Some of you
pjcas18 : 8/9/2019 9:14 am : link
are too positive and too negative from very small sample sizes.

Yes, Haskins had two picks and didn't look great at times, but overall he was 8 of 14 for 117 yards.

Eli's pre-season debut he went 7 of 13 for 91 yards.

I was never a big fan of Haskins, but those with the mission accomplished attitudes for both of these players after 1 or 2 series are way too premature.

Yep, it's a mixture of wanting the player to fail for various reasons mixed with the strong desire to be able to pound chests and declare Victory(!) for their "intelligence"
I left out
crick n NC : 8/9/2019 9:27 am : link
The other side to that equation in that certain fans mostly rooting for a certain player to succeed to declare Victory for their opinion, overly excited which leads to wanting to declare Victory from a small sample.
I want..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/9/2019 9:29 am : link
to see all Giants succeed.

Even ones I don't think will do well or were bad picks. I'd love it if Flowers was a perennial All-Pro. Even if he yuks it up on the sidelines and gulps down sunflower seeds in a blowout loss!

Of course. You aren't "certain" fans. And they don't make up a majority here, but they can be loud.

When I am wrong (happens everyday typically for something) it's an opp to learn if I I don't choose stubbornness which comes from pride which certainly is a struggle sometimes.

Height is only 1/2 of it. He is small.. If he gets creamed while running a few times it could have a major impact on his play. He has to run and get down or out of bounds. He cannot take big shots or his career will be short.
The issue with Murray wasn't that he could play
Deejboy : 8/9/2019 10:35 am : link
It's what will happen with a 5'9" 185lbs guy getting hit a lot by 6'4" 280lbs men.

He's 5 10 205. People love shortchanging him on his size for a weird reason. His upper body frame is kind of small and packs a bunch of muscle on it.
Did helmets get bigger,
Karl Hungus : 8/9/2019 10:57 am : link
or is he really that tiny?
They short-change..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/9/2019 10:58 am : link
him on his size because he looks tiny on the field. Like Spud Webb going up against the trees.

He might be 5'10", but he sure looks small.
Count me in as STILL...
bw in dc : 8/9/2019 11:06 am : link
not buying the Combine measurements on Murray. He's not Herve Villechaize but he's the smallest NFL QB I've ever seen in the NFL.

And his arms look very short. But he can certainly sling it. Undoubtedly, he has an NFL plus-arm...
He ran an RPO - Wr screen last night....very very impressive
Zeke's Alibi : 8/9/2019 11:10 am : link
AA. As an option QB he makes his reads very fast, which will help him stay healthy. Cards and Ravens are on my must watch list year just to see how their outside the mold offenses perform.
And it is about the hits these guys takes, Kylee doesn't really take
Zeke's Alibi : 8/9/2019 11:11 am : link
big one, but Lamar Jacksom is certainly going to need to learn or no way he makes the season.
There is no way he is 205lbs right now
ZogZerg : 8/9/2019 11:14 am : link
He is small. He is going to get whacked and he is going to get hurt. There is no way he starts 16 games this year. I'd bet the farm in Vegas on that one.

Ironically, Murray's size will be an advantage when he takes off running because he's a smaller target. A guy like LJax, on the other hand, runs very high, he's tall, and he's fearless. It's really only seems a matter of time before he gets crushed.
...
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/9/2019 11:16 am : link
Lamar Jackson also puts his shoulder down and runs like a RB.
Zeke's Alibi : 8/9/2019 11:18 am : link
Kyler runs like you want your QB to, he looks for the sideline where he gets protection.

Likely gained weight for the combines.

Is a thrower of the ball! No doubt! All his passes were outside the numbers last night... Still think he'll have problems working the inside of the field 10 yard range due to his height..
Murray looked great
Rudy5757 : 8/9/2019 1:41 pm : link
He is a tiny guy though. hard for me to say if that will be a problem. It wasn't yesterday. I don't like how he claps to get the ball. Seems its giving away the snap count to the D.

He is not a Giants type of player, we tend to play more traditional football. I think he will be successful because the offense is designed to take advantage of his talent. Im not sure he would be successful in a regular O.
Just watched

the cards game. Murray only played the first drive, starting on his own 2. Lots of quick release short outs in the passing attack. Made a big first down going to a secondary receiver. Had the pocket collapse on one play and with a guy coming in from each side he went right to the ground and wasn't hit. Good arm, good release, didn't see a big variety of passes.
looked fast
bc4life : 8/9/2019 6:37 pm : link
looked accurate. good arm.
