Sy and I watched the script at practice on Tuesday. It was hand-off, then either handoff or play action pass in the subsequent downs.
Eli went off script on the first play. No hand-off. I guess he didn't like what he saw. He changed the call, ends up rolling out right and dumps off the pass to Scott Simonson for three yards, then the second play was a false start -- co-incidence?
It is a shame that the OL didn't do well when Eli was in for the brief series. It would have been nice to see some efficiency. But a false start and then getting blown up on a running play where Hernandez was holding doesn't help. The 3rd down draw was just a give-up to get Eli out of there so no injury would happen.
Eli obviously can do whatever he wants at this point in his career, but Jones followed the script and looked crisp.

Watched the game with my father last night, and both of us had the same reaction after that first series which was “same old Giants.” (Short 2-3 yard pass, penalty, draw on 3rd down, etc.) We both felt a boredom and frustration watching that series. However, when Daniel Jones entered it was like a breath of fresh air, and our mood went from frustration to excitement and optimism. And it appeared as though this same spark of hope and energy was felt throughout the sideline, based on the reactions of the players after Jones connected with Bennie Fowler on that TD pass.
Although it is only one preseason game and series for both Eli and Jones, I just get the feeling this team will be better off starting Jones from the get go. We all know they aren’t contending for a Super Bowl this season, so why delay the building process of getting back to that championship level by having Eli play. Let Jones get the reps and learn from experience, while also continuing to build trust amongst his teammates.

Understood here, but I also don’t want my QB constantly checking down to his 3rd option most of the time, when his first and second reads are wide open. Example below...

I have no idea what this team is yet and neither do you. Could we get hot towards the end and make a run? Sure we can. It has happened. I'm not saying it will happen, but to flat out say we aren't superbowl contenders is a lazy take.
The season takes on a life of it's own and we will see as the season progresses where we stand.

Glad they Put Eli in first that way the line had a chance
to get the feel of the game When Jones came it it looked
like a different O-line they basically put a wall in
front of Jones who ran the offense with precision .
So a Good Start for Jones and quieted the nay Sayers for
now . all the draft picks got there feet wet and not much
to complain about . Connely had a nice game as did Ballentine
kid picked up where he left off in practice we may have
a gem with him . Pass rush was non-existant but we know
its gonna be a team effort .
It was an A+ performance . Kyle Lauletta had an excellent
game .
Say what you may but when Jones came in the entire offense had a different feel to it like they responded to Jones entering the game !
