will probably still buy via stub hub or similar to make sure I dont get scammed but its nice to have the option and flexibility to just pay $20 a seat in the lot
I used to love to buy scalped tickets back during the late 80s,90s and Â
00s but the counterfeit risks are too great now and I’m sick and tired of demanding that the scalper walk with me all the way to the gate to ensure I don’t get ripped off. It’s all but impossible to tell whether the ticket is legit or not so I gave up. Plus I now share season tix with my father in law. The only guy I would scalp from is one guy and one guy only: he’s a heavy set gentleman, black, with piercing green eyes. You pretty much can’t miss him. If you see him he’s trustworthy. Beware everyone else. This dude is all over the place last I checked. Yankees, meadowlands and MSG.

I used to buy them in the 70's and 80's all the time. No matter the sport if I couldn't find a great deal I would just wait until you heard the National Anthem being played and the prices dropped considerably. Once at the Houston Astrodome I went by myself just to watch Earl Campbell in person and I had two scalpers doing a reverse auction trying to give me the better deal all because kickoff was moments away. LOL.
I agree though, today I wouldn't ever buy from a scalper.
Kind of along those lines, are the tickets booths at the baseball stadiums in NY still maned by a lot of old time retirees? You could always get the best seats if you asked them if they had any good seats set aside and then tip them. I did it every time I went to Shea. They would always keep a little stash of prime tickets they held back for those willing to give them a little "gratuity".
I got the same package of paper tickets that I always get Â
They call them 'commemorative' tickets because they've got pictures of Giants greats on them and I guess you could frame them and use the electronic ones if you want.
"anyone selling tickets, selling tickets, selling tickets"

if so, how do scalpers get you in the building? Do they email or text you the ticket?
Barcodes are scanned. Either on your screen or on a physical ticket.
So physical tickets still exist? I was under the same impression as Essex
Those are very likely passive, and only activated when scanned by a reader at Stadium entrance.
Same here. Physical tickets are definitely alive and well.
