There is no way I'm the only one who was thinking about the impending lovefest that would transpire on BBI last night/this morning after Jones' debut.
After the first couple of completions, I started to smirk, thinking, "If he drives them to a TD....that place is going to go crazy." Then when he dropped the ball in the bucket to Fowler, I literally laughed out loud while imagining the thread titles and calls for sizings of the yellow jacket.
Lol...so much optimsim this morning! And I also can't be the only one thinking, "Of COURSE this is the way it starts....lol!"
Great night to be a Giants fan. The dawn of a new hopeful, if unsure, future.
You have the love the wild swings of BBI's collective emotions!
Nothing wrong with getting excited, we all know it’s one meaningless preseason drive. But it’s cool to imagine what the kid could turn out to be
"should have been picked?" Did you listen to the game on the radio? He fit the ball in before the defender could turn around, which is exactly what he is supposed to do.
This is the NFL. Guys don't have 3 yards of separation.
BS. It was a perfect spot with just the right velocity to fit into the tight window. If he let the ball hang in the air the defender could've located it but he didn't.
Darnold's first one that went through Peppers hands.
He makes that catch and things look a lot less rosy today for Darnold.

Yup, 100 percent correct.
Similar to doing an eye test at the doctor's office. Sure the letter may look like an "e" to you and you can swear by it, but it was an "f" the whole time.
Media and fans are hyper reactive now. Take a look at the story on QBs in CBS Sports andc they have a pic of Eli with a scowl on his face and it was 'gasp' during Jones first drive, BUT before the TD (implying he must have punched the kicking net after that play)! Ridiculous.
No it shouldn't have.
It was a great, not some lucky throw that a defender whiffed on.
Stop with nonsense!

a pass early on that should have been picked.

What does how darnold is getting viewed have anything to do with the Giants?
If so, I agree, that's a shitty take.

but the TD pass should have been picked. The overhead shot is obvious. We need to relax and remember he is a rookie, and may have hiccups here and there. Definitely awesome to see him accurate and quick with his passes.

This, and the defender who got beat said the exact same thing.
“He put it where only the receiver could get it,” Miles told NJ Advance Media. “That’s the passes you want to see from a young quarterback. He just dropped it in there. When a quarterback can put the ball outside of the coverage, man, there’s nothing you can do about it.”

True that fades tend to be thrown more over the top, but it's also common enough for DBs to turn their back in that situation (bad technique or not). That said, he might have been able to make a play on the ball from where he was...
Now did DJ do this purposely? I'll say yes if we see him do it consistently. If not, it's going to bite him in the butt til he fixes it. One of his knocks was inconsistent decision-making like most young QBs, so we'll see how that develops. But yesterday he did look pretty decisive fwiw

Correct. There was no chance for the defender to grab it. In fact, it looked like it was going to sail out of the end zone. Textbook throw and catch.
Unforgettable.
