when they drafted him #6...? (Jints Central has no plan, DG is senile, Mara is clueless etc...)
And now that he has had a tremendous debut said sentiment has runneth over to the opposite extreme...??
Maybe people should remember that historically there is tremendous overreaction to almost every development here on BBI so lets just wait and see...??
Just sayin...
What are the point of these threads? I was fine with the pick, I’m happy with his drive on Thursday, and I’m excited to see how he plays next week. That’s it, no other narrative necessary.
Can't wait to see your next.
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away
I was shocked that we passed on Allen, but ultimately felt an immediate sense of relief that we didn't have to worry about Jones being available later (which in hindsight, I believe he would never have been available at 17).
I felt as though we burned a high pick on Jones and also feel that an early pick (1 - 7) in the draft should be a starter this year and an immediate game changer type player. By the end of the day, I was absolutely thrilled at the Giants picking Jones at 6. Now it's obvious the Giants were ahead of the curve and knew that 1) Jones is a franchise QB and 2) there was no way in hell he would be available at the 17 spot and 3) knew he was a better option for the team than Haskins.
Couldn't be happier to see Jones prove the doubters wrong and show the world he's the real deal!

This is very similar to how I felt...I couldn't believe the good fortune that Allen had fallen and initially felt they reached for DJ and could have had both players maybe...but I also thought if they had a conviction I would wait and see...

I loved DJ from the start and really wanted him on the team. But I was conflicted because I was thrilled that Josh Allen was unexpectedly available when we were suddenly on the clock. I never thought for a second that Allen would be on the board for us to take if we wanted. So I was conflicted because I wanted us to get Jones, but thought maybe we could still get him at 17 and getting Allen would be a steal.

Close to my take as well but I didn't care about any talk of a reach I just kind of wanted players over any qb. Basically I wanted both but I was more than fine with jones. Can’t have both but we did pretty damn good with that haul of players nonetheless.

Good post.
I have no problems with some fans dishing it out here the last few days. We had to sit through some of the most incessant, awful, premature and ignorant posts the last few months from nyg fans and listen to garbage out of touch garbage from media as well. You’re kidding right? For 3 months it’s been scorched earth coverage. Jones has a good five minutes and has had a great camp and some of us aren’t allowed to revel a little? Even if it’s premature and unfounded, go ahead and revel. It’s obvious even 1 month into his DJ’s career that the talk was pretty much total garbage. Jones DOES have talent. Most were way off. Laughably way off I might add.
You should really delete this.
If so, the irony in the OP is the only thing that is 'tremendous' around here right now.
It's also funny how it's only a select certain few that are shook as hell over Jones' debut. Absolutely hilarious and wonderful.

No Dave that wasn't me but as one of the whiniest of the whiny and overall one of the worst posters on here it's not surprising you got something wrong again..

Sure, it wasn't.
As everyone else in here said, thanks for the great thread and reminder. Stay mad about the future QB of the Giants having a good first outing in the pre-season.
Fantastic couple of days thus far.
Can't wait to see your next.
yeah, i think we can...

Well its a good thing you aren't GM lol. If you love a QB and you want him on the team, you don't pass him for the type of pass rushing prospect that is available every year.

Phew, glad to hear it. After this genius thread I don’t know which way is up around here.
And some of them start threads.
This is just a dead cat bounce from BBI's resident super duper fan, who is apparently just now learning about professional mortality in real time.
would take Jones None , but I trusted that they knew
what they were doing so I wasn't fazed at all through
out the coming weeks it was the worst pick in history .
So it was great to see Jones go out and look sharp granted
it was some vanilla stuff but he threw darts never looked
the slightest bit nervous so he passed the first test .
That certainly calmed my nerves

Agree. Didn't think they would take him at 6 and only hoped for the best. Saw all the videos and liked him but just trusted they knew what they were doing given Shurmur's background with QB's. Really want to see him on rollouts etc and accuracy on the run. Wasn't so much that they passed on Allen just that was Jones a franchise QB after passing on Darnold who I loved. Will see. Nice start.

Well put. Also, it s not like “I told you so” posts haven’t been prevalent here before. Guess it depends on whose ox is getting gored
+1
Next week the Giants play the Bears, who have a much better pass rush and secondary than the Jets have. Of course it's preseason, so Jones may not face Khalil Mack or Kyle Fuller when he's in, but still...it should be a tougher test for the kid, and for the rest of the Giants.

No, that was the wuss Alan In Toledo who made that hilarious, cringe-worthy thread.
