Does this phrase annoy the shit out of everyone like it does me? Not sure why but I want to punch my computer screen every time I see it. Maybe it's just me.
often (rarely post) and I don't really keep track of who are good posters and who are whackos. There is something about that phrase that is so god damn grating. If that is his purpose (which would certainly be a peculiar goal), well done because I cringe when I read it.
Jints Central was a common phrase used in the Daily News in the early '90s - I forget the exact writers/reporters - to obviously reference the Giants decisions makers - GM, Owners, etc.
I found it catchy and harmless. Frankly, I have no idea why anyone would get so irritated by it.

Bullshit. You don't use it because the Daily News did 30 years ago. You use it because you know it annoys people. At least be honest about it.

It sounds extremely condescending.
No, he uses it to be condescending. People get irritated when it is used, so he keeps using to get as much reaction as possible.
But it is because it annoys people. And, it’s like your fine wine. Potency increases with age.
I guess it's become a tagline of sorts.
But I'm certainly not going to use it because someone has an issue with it. It's really very silly this whole thing...especially this theory I use it to lump all the optimists together. That is just the best thing I've read in quite some time...
fairly common parlance I think. It’s equivalent to “the Giants braintrust” and is neither positive nor negative. A bit or reporter shorthand.
It comes off as condescending because bw comes off as condescending most of the time. But he’s not a true troll, he cares about the team and makes a case for his view, pessimistic though it often is. He was part of the old “realist” group with Mark S., Alan, et al. I’m glad he’s back around condescending or not, it’s a more interesting site with him posting.

I could buy this if he hadn’t outed himself as a skins fan last week.
Jints instead of Giants has been used in NY newspaers for decades Â
I remember headlines using that as far back as the 1970's. "Jints Central" was then used to lump the management of the organization into the same phrasing (Jints instead of Giants) but often done when criticizing them instead of lauding them.
bw has used this as long as I remember him posting going back to the 90's. I never took him to mean any posters but the brain trust of the organization. He just piggy backed on what some papers did.
Does phrasing it that way kind of take a little poke at them, sure that's probably why bw has enjoyed doing it, but he had been consistent and certainly didn't invest the phrase.
I never cared for it when I saw it used in headlines, but bw making a habit of it is nothing more than his style and getting a reaction from people because of it probably gives him a laugh. Just like he used to use $'s when typing Strahan. It's a subtle dig and people react.
Read my posts. It's completely clear I am referring to the Giants Org - Mara, DG, whomever - 100% of the time.
I’ve been on the receiving end of them. It’s stupid and doesn’t bother me, but you definitely reference posters as part of “Jints Central.” It’s a cute little catch phrase you’ve got for yourself.

Totally incorrect.
But if you want to continue to think I'm that conniving, then knock yourself out...
It’s been a long time indeed. BBI is 25, it can rent a car now, WTF? Hope all is well.
Hard to believe - BBI has withstood the test of time.
Life is good. A few kids, fun family, lots of travel (son is an aspiring baseball player, so we travel up and down the east coast), and back to kicking it around at BBI once in a while...
Back in the 60’s and 70’s the NY Daily News called the Giants the “Jints” many times in their articles covering Giants games.
I have used it many times on BBI in the past on threads when referring to Giants.
It is not offensive at all.
It’s for the sole reason to mock Mara and DG and anyone who supports them. It’s so obvious and the denial is more pathetic than actually using the phrase.

The olde timers on here should chime in. I always remember from the 70s&80s as sort of a derogatory term for Giants management when they were poorly run. As a diehard fan my dad hated the term. I would believe this is why it gets under the skin of some. Once they started winning the term dropped. Well until the Giants started doing poorly again.

You need to check your history. The NYDN was using it in the '80s and '90s.
Let me give you an example of a derogatory term - Redskins.
and I most certainly remember the tabloid newspapers using the term "Jints". I thought is was asinine then and I think it;s asinine now. It's not like it's saving time like a nickname or anything like that. It's just stupid.
Now nicknames is another thing. If you don't know someone personally, don't call then your clever nickname. "getts", 'Spags". Just my thing I'm sure
Jints was definitely used in at least The Daily News Â
It's most certainly not effecting my real life, only when I come on here. LOL
Exactly.

Yeah, I know. I'm sure he gets a big laugh out of it, too.

I am being honest about it.
I've always used. Dating back to BBI's inception.

That’s true.

Do we need a glossary now?
I always thought he used it to refer to ownership/GM/hc
Never got the impression it referred to posters.
That’s true,
It it’s not a “substitute”. It’s done to mock the Org and thereby mock and annoy the org’s fans.
That’s true.

We have a poster in the board, I believe, named Jints in Carolina. Right?
This really makes me laugh. I just love it here... ;)

Half true. Absolutely to mock the Org.
If that annoys the fans that's just incidental...
Can be used in so many ways

Oh, puh-leeze. It's obvious that you use it as a pejorative, regardless of why or when you started, which is why it bothers people.
But, you do you. Write what you will. The rest of us will survive.
Hope things are well.

I absolutely use it to criticize ownership and the front office. Nothing more, nothing less.
I can't control what offends people in this hyper-sensitive world. Either you take my explanation as fact, or we have very little to discuss.
I never really cared for the "word" but didn't think it had any meaning other than as a shorter version of "Giants".
When bw uses the term I assume he simply means the Giants organization/ownership/management.
Why anyone would even care that he uses the term let alone get worked up enough about it to start a callout thread is baffling.
I have used it many times on BBI in the past on threads when referring to Giants.

Damnit Jints, you're too controversial.
