My uncle has been battling Hepatitis A since early July, and doctors informed him and my aunt that he is going to need a liver transplant because he now has acute liver failure. The operation is tomorrow morning, and wondering what his quality of life will now be after all is said and done. He’s only 56, so our family is hoping for the best.
He was originally diagnosed with A. Apparently there was an outbreak of it at a golf club he is a member of. However, a couple weeks ago blood work indicated he may also have B. Then he was transferred to Mt Sinai, and when they did bloodwork there only A was coming back in the results.
Weird thing is all others that were hit with A from his club are on the mends but him, he’s been hit the hardest with the virus.
Underlying liver disease for other reasons like cirrhosis might too
