I thought this deserves its own thread.
He is listed on the Cowboys depth chart with the 3rd team.
Cowboys play a 4-3. He might be suited better for the 3-4. We need more pass rush and he might be worth taking a chance on if he is cut. He was 1st rounder a few years ago.
I would love to hear some thoughts from Sy and others on this.

Overrated for rd 1 or overrated in general. If he fell to us in rd 2 that year would you have been upset if we took him then?
Probably wont get cut initially since the Cowboys have some issues at DE right now but may be cut after week 2.
It would be real sweet if we do pick up a former Cowboy 1st round bust and get production from him. Jerruh would go nuts...lol. So would the fans.

Neither did the cowboys

Summary: Charlton was a rotational, situational player up until his senior season. He was a late bloomer but took full advantage of his opportunities as a senior, finishing third in the Big Ten with 10 sacks, earning 1st Team All Conference honors. It’s hard to believe that a player with this tool set took this long to make the impact. His triangle numbers are some of the best in the class and the skill set is on the way up. The upside here is enormous and he could see more progress than most, as his uptick has only just begun.
*One year starters always have to worry you, but there were a few stretches during the season where I was going to have Charlton with the top 3-4 guys in the class at DE. If you are looking at these guys in pads and watching them get off the ball, Charlton has the goods. He looks like JPP and even showed some flashes of playing like him as well. There is some information that he wasn’t a hard worker, wasn’t very coachable. Little bit of a red flag but at some point you have to give in to the upside he presents.
Upside Pro Comparison: Jason Pierre-Paul – NYG
In 15 games (two starts), Lorenzo Carter has 43 tackles (30 solo) and four sacks.
Charlton is also credited with forcing a fumble and recovering one (not sure if it's the same one), and Carter is credited with four passes defended.

We already have the best defensive player from that Michigan draft class.

Plus I guess looking at the fact that he's now 3rd string, if it holds, means that even 2nd or 3rd round was too high also.
Thanks. I was wondering how you obtained him off of waivers.
Seriously......Are they going to line up 4 DT's and try to blitz one of their LB's?
Kind of like bringing in Erick Flowers to stabilize your line.
Well if he needs to do that then wait never mind everyone does that
I like to live by the motto "never turn town a big bust", so I'd have to disagree.
