NFT: Whats one movie you walked out of the theater on?

LawrenceTaylor56 : 8/12/2019 12:26 pm
Continuing with the recent movie thread.

I'll start. Peter Jacksons King Kong. About 1 hour into the movie someone blurted out "Where the fuck is the monkey?"

I left at hour #3. If you can't finish a movie in under 3 hours, I'm gone. Plus that movie sucked.

and it wasn't actually walked out on. my wife and I and a another couple went out to dinner and then a movie.

the wives picked the movie.

after about 20 minutes of awful dialog and ridiculous plot I faked a stomach ailment and went to the lobby to play video games. Hung out there for about an hour.

then went back to my seat for 15-20 min and said "uh-oh, stomach issue again" and spent the rest of the evening playing video games and people watching.

Otherwise i rarely go to the movies.

I don't know how or why I went to see this movie. It was 1985, so I was about 11 years old and I think the trailer seemed like a fun alien thing, but it was verrrry different when we sat in the theatre. My friends and I bailed about 30 minutes in and played video games in the lobby at the old Tenplex on Route 4 until one of our parents picked us up.

Hated it.

Walked out, movie across the hall was just filing in. Walked in, knowing nothing about DEAD CALM.

So, thank you, shitty Road House for getting me to watch Dead Calm!
I love most of the movies you guys are listing...

...King Kong was fucking great! Every woman in the theater flipped when the bug scene hit. Laughed my ass off.

Eraserhead. EPIC.

Big Lebowski. I don't understand. How could someone NOT love that? At least John Goodman!

Little Shop of Horrors - a classic, c'mon - FEED ME!

Rocky Horror? LOL, repressed sexual issues anyone?

Pulp Fiction??? Someone WALKED OUT of Pulp Fiction? It's in my top-3 all time. What is WRONG with you?!

Not in the theater. Rented it, took about 20 minutes to realize it was a Evangelical Rapture flick.

I could not handle that truth.

I am doomed to hell. I am not watching a film about that fact.

:)

I brought my 3 yr old and 6 yr old. It scared the shit out of them when the little girl got sucked in on her tricycle in the beginning. They gave us a refund.

Of course, they watched it 10,000x once it came out on video lol

If I ever had to see that movie in the movie theater I might have faked a heart attack like Doug Heffernan in King of Queens did because he forgot one of his wife's co-workers names.

I actually saw that in the theater, but didn't walk out. I was on a date and my date had chosen it, so no matter how putrid it was, I was compelled to sit there with her until the very end.

Fear Dot Com was the one time I did walk out. I would have walked out of Suspect Zero but I fell asleep during it.

I came very close to walking out on Action Park (thought it was going to be Jackass not an actual story)
The worst movie ever or that I've seen
pjcas18 : 8/12/2019 1:40 pm : link
is easily Leonard Part 6 with Bill Cosby.

I would have included this movie, but I was young when it came out and my friends bother worked as an usher at the theater so we got in free and really just want to hang out with the rest of the hoodlums outside the theater in the plaza.

but we did go in for the start of the movie and didn't last long, just an awful, awful movie.
I think it was Ebert who said....

Wow. I love Edge of Tomorrow. It's one of those movies I get stuck re-watching every time it's on. One of us has bad taste. Probably me.
Nah, I liked Edge of Tomorrow too.
Greg from LI : 8/12/2019 1:45 pm : link
It was a huge hit and got good reviews from the critics, so the guy who walked out was the outlier.

Very possibly. There are bad movies, we all have seen them, and then there is Leonard Part 6. It's almost like they couldn't make a movie that bad if they were trying to make a movie that bad. And it's not even in the category of so bad it's good like the previously mentioned Roadhouse. It's just awful.

Great episode of King Of Queens. Can't remember Carrie's coworkers name so he just collapses and fakes a heart attack! Brilliant

Didn't see it in the movies, but would agree it was atrocious. It was so bad I kept watching it thinking "something must happen to make this interesting!" It never did. It started off uninteresting and never deviated from that.

Between that and Suburbicon, I feel like Matt Damon owes me some money. Those movies are both abominations.

Man, there are some strong contenders for that title, though. Jack and Jill, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, Grown Ups....
The only movie I ever walked out of was The Deer Hunter ...

The Russian Roulette scenes were just too intense for me ... I still can’t watch the movie without skipping some parts... though I once read some of this was pure Hollywood.
