Probably the weirdest thing i have asked advice about in 20 years here. Have some houseguests here including a child almost 3 and my wive’s sister.
First I don’t believe in ghosts and think it is nonsense. Yesterday the child said something about seeing a ghost in the hallway. My wife and I assured her there were no ghosts in the house and the child was fine. She even came in a little later with her sheet on her saying she was a ghost. She was laughing.
In the middle of the night I hear a tape in the hallway playing on a cellphone.and catch something about driving out demons. I shut it off. The next morning I tell my sister in law she can’t play stuff like that in
my hallway especially without my permission.
I just get back from dropping my wife off somewhere and guess what is playing on the hallway again.
I tell her she can’t do that and she is defiant and hurls a bunch of Jesus Christ’s at me like I am a vampire.
Any thoughts on what I should do (and about kids and ghosts)?
You can't fix crazy and they'll be gone soon enough.
Any time someone offers to drive demons out of my house I usually take them up on the offer.
On the flip side, is it a big deal? If you don't believe in ghosts then her attempts at "getting rid of demons" shouldn't really matter to you.
Not that you could answer this, but why be afraid of something that can be chased off with a recording? If it is that powerless I would suggest you all jump it in the hallway and noogie it until it leaves on it's own.
Maybe they've spent the past 30 years waiting for the right time to pounce and it hasn't exactly presented itself, but it's getting close.
It could also be a case of they moved the head stones but they didn't move the bodies and they're using the little kid to drive them to the light or stay out of the light - I forget - Coach got confused too.
just saying, demons <> good and driving out demons = good.
be careful here.
Apparently, nuts.
Sounds the like cat in the Sopranos that stared at Chris' picture after he died. Did you know they steal the breath from babies?

Al, I'm a therapist - lots of experience - but just my two cents.
Remove her head from her body. Bury the head and the body in two different places. Then ask why your sister in law has to visit and that it should only be done outside of your house going forward - that's if the head separation doesn't work. But I'm Jewish, and I know gentiles have different methodology.

BTW, was the ghost a Giants fan?

guess Cowboys.
If they're just visiting, no biggie. And if you're not sensitive to it, then no biggie. But as someone who has experienced 2 and a half decades of it, I believe, without question.

Beez, you've written about this before.
I guess never gave consideration to moving?
As long as you don't wake up to the cat staring at you with exposed claws ready to sacrifice you, I think you are OK.
If someone were strange enough to play a recording urging demons to leave, that would be fodder for the rest of our family gatherings.
I might just start randomly yelling "BOO!" just for the fuck of it!
Jesus will no doubt forgive you; but your wife might not regarding poking fun at her sister, or even her sister's mishugas. If your wife has spent a lifetime ignoring your sil's cuckoo, she might not want that stone overturned, either.
If your sil looks like madgiantscow's gypsy, send your wife on a two week vacay and get to the bottom of the issue with the sil...
We all have "demons" in our family if we peel away enough layers or widen the circle to 3rd cousins thrice removed, I imagine.
None of that ramble was intended to help at all. But you weren't really asking for help, were you? Or you'd let the tapes run and be glad for them.
Be sure to also add that you know it's crazy you didn't believe in ghosts before this but the encounter was so vivid you have no choice but to believe now.

Strange things started happening that first night, and while it goes in waves (couple months on, as much as a year or two off), there is absolutely activity in our home. So many stories that confirm it for me. And when they were little (they're 21 and 18 now) both our kids saw a little girl in the house - completely independently of each other. Ots more stories but I'll be anti-Beez today and leave it at that.

Not really.
A priest came in within maybe 3-4 months. Went through the house. Seemed to quiet things but only for a relatively short time. Then more stuff. We have never felt threatened or unsafe. Just ... tons of weird things that when I tell the stories, would seem not believable if we hadn’t been in the middle of it.
Not sure if it was coincidence, but you know that thing where they say if you renovate and start to tear up old historical things, you get a flare up of activity? Huge case of that roughly a year and a half ago when we did the upstairs bathroom remodel. It was definitely noticed by “someone.” But we had a chat (lol) and it died down somewhat quickly.
Never happened before or since.
Last night at bedtime I had a talk with my wife and we both agreed that she will have to leave very soon. Some hard talks are coming up today. I would guess she will either go back to live in her mother’s house ( which I think she will inherit) or find a friend or relative to “temporarily” move in with. I don’t think she has any further ties back in the Bahamas.
I have tried to be patient with her because she has made personal sacrifices on behalf of the family but we have had run ins before because she tends to try to throw herself into other people’s business. A condition of her coming here was agreed by to my wife that she be stopped immediately if she did this here.
Houseguests and fish both start to stink after three days. In law guests maybe two days
