and when I caught the first episode, I was expecting "brutal" to mean "gore." And though there was a bit of that, nothing was as brutal as the way the first episode ended, which I actually thought was legitimately affecting, almost upsetting. Definitely got my attention.
episodes last night (ending at 12:30). Love this show. The ending we kind of saw coming or at least, some part saw coming. Starlight is a cool character. Hate the Deep but curious where that psycho goes. Want to know more about Black Noir.
Urban talking to Pegg was a nice Star Trek nod without actually doing it or hinting at it.
Watching a youtube recap of the comic book storyline was very revealing. In the books, the incident with Starlight and Deep, is actually with 3 of the men on the 7.
not really into super hero / comic book type shows. Â
Similar to GoT I don't think you have to be into fantasy or comic books to enjoy this. I'm pretty much done with the Marvel/DC movies but this is awesome so far. Its like a much better, more "realistic" version of Watchmen.

Agreed. It's a revenge story, with some great characters. I was aching to know more backstory about most of them.

It has similarities but the story arc - in terms of the antagonist/protagonist - is completely different.
I thought it was a nice antidote to all of the superhero movies out there.
I've read issues #1 to #13 of the comics - which much more closely follows the Boys than it does the seven. Think the show did a great job of taking out the important parts of the comics, without trying to be overly graphic, or pornographic, in the way that the comics are.
Season 1. Not quite sure what to think about the decision to throw a "what the fuck" cliffhanger out to end it, but we'll see how they write themselves out of that corner.

I liked the ending - sets up some interesting possibilities for Season 2. Link - ( New Window )
I just realized that the guy who plays Butcher is the same guy who played McCoy in the Star Trek reboots!
You think that's crazy? I just realized that the girl who plays Starlight is Kristy Swanson, time traveled from 1992 and fresh off Buffy the Vampire Slayer!

I thought the Sups were very cheesy and for some reason that took away some of the enjoyment. I thought it was ok not this master piece everyone is calling it.
I've watched it twice already start to finish. The two most cringeworthy moments though, I almost had to look away, and I won't say what they are for those who haven't finished but...gross.

Really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next season. Like someone said, let's see how they deal with the final reveal but it sets up a few new storylines for Season 2. Karl Urban is always good but he took it to another level in this one.
Would've liked a few more things built up before season ended, but they certainly have me anticipating s2.
great song. awesome band. super violent video.
It is funny how the same thread keeps popping up.

Homelander in the terrorist hideout was badass

Is it still worth watching?

And Simon Pegg, who plays Hughie's father, plays Scotty in those movies - and he was also the inspiration for Hughie in the comics.
He also played Hela's Executioner in Thor Ragnarok.
Neither am I, this show actually has more appeal to us that don't like the super hero/ comic book type shows. A ton more depth and grey area.
LOL... your doing what I did and binge watching it. Wait until you get to the final episode for season 1
Same guy who played the bad russian guy in the Jason Bourne movies

Um, ?
The comics are much worse....
and Lord of the Rings!
